Coppa - An Act of Aggression: THE REMIXES
Four classic originals. Four amazing remixes. Coppa and his Comanche imprint continue to up the game, and change the game. CMR004 comes with remixes from Benny L, Samy Nicks, AKOV and Blaine Stranger, who each take on one of the tracks from Coppa's An Act Of Aggression LP.
Coppa's reputation and hard work has been rightfully recognised, and after years in the game he is fully flying the flag for drum & bass on stages all over the world. The new remix collection adds another dimension, with four new takes on some of the bigger tunes from last year's album. 
Blaine Stranger takes on Coppa & Raise Spirit's Huge Oh No, which features Nihayet. The same storming, ominous sound, the same massive vibes, but a fresh approach, with Blaine bringing the drums front and centre and adding new synth melodies in a remix which the crowds'll love, taking the tune to yet more listeners than before. Watch out for this one, fire in the dance. Coppa and Disphonia provide the wicked Paranoize, which Akov remixes for CMR004. Just when you thought the original couldn't be added to, Akov completely switches things up, dropping the tempo to half time, isolating the vocals and zeroing in on details to boost the very best parts of the track. A perfect remix on many fronts, you'll want to play this one again and again.
Benny L navigates the Rhythms Of Life, courtesy of the main man Coppa, Virtue and Damian Yonge. Once again, the devil's in the detail, as the remixer swaps in heavier basslines and sharp kicks to bring the new version to life. Energetic and joyful, this is a new anthem in the making. When the beat drops back in, you'll know why we're tipping this one for the top. Essential.
Closer Panic is remixed by Samy Nicks, who builds on Coppa and Benny L's original. This one is the pure, raw edge of drum & bass that we all love so much, and is going to be a tune which you're going to be hearing a lot of in the next few weeks and months.

Hospital Records’ São Paulo discovery Urbandawn is a serious contender. After releasing two popular EPs with the label and spending several months determined in the studio his debut album ‘Gothenburg Cluster’ is ready.

Seventeen tracks of sophisticated sound design unite punching drum beats, funk ridden riffs and huge cinematic explorations. The experienced audio engineer not only draws from his Brazilian roots but also the more niche rock, metal and folk bands of the Swedish mid 90’s scene. As one of the most versatile singer-songwriter-emcees the scene has produced, Youngman does a lot more than DnB. 2017, though, sees him prove his junglist credentials once again. He's featured on massive tracks like Drumsound & Bassline Smith's “Steal My Heart” and Wilkinson's “Hypnotic”, played huge shows, and, now, he's dropped another solo release on Technique. His reworked garage classic “Sorry” has already hit Spotify's Viral Top 20 this year, and he's back with the follow-up.

The “Spinning” project encompasses three versions of the song, created with Kai Smith, a songwriter who's worked with a string of A-listers including P Money, Dirtyphonics and Example. This first taste, the “Sunrise Mix”, takes Youngman's vocal and wraps it in smooth, sensual liquid. Delicately silky pads and strings set the scene, with just a subtle touch of percussion to give the song room to breathe.

Then, as the molten, enveloping heat of the bassline drops, and the rolling beats get the dance moving, that “I'm still spinning” riff gets inside your head and stays there. This is hands-in-the-air sing-along material that's got summertime anthem written all over it. It's undoubtedly going to be blasting out across raves, radio and festivals everywhere this year.

This is one of that rare breed, a truly vocal-led DnB project. And, with Fred V & Grafix on the buttons, this interpretation of the tune seems so complete that it's hard to imagine how another producer is going to twist it. With two more versions to come though, there's more “Spinning” where that came from.

The Nu:Logic duo return with their combined genius to present a second full-length collaborative effort ‘Somewhere Between The Light’. As two pioneers of the signature Hospital sound, brothers Nu:Tone and Logistics have become influencers and tastemakers in the genre with a deep back-catalogue of smooth, soulful, liquid drum & bass. This 13-track long player soars through the same ethereal movements with a welcomed dip into new territory.

Tracks ‘Somewhere Between The Light’, ‘Side By Side’, ‘Driftwood’ and ‘Red Velvet’ are sure to satisfy the needs of those after classic Hospital rhythms. Heart-wrenching vocals delivered by the likes of Child of Chief, Thomas Oliver and Ed Thomas balance blissful highs with lower register tones.
