Lucidflow Records - All EPs - Deep Techno, Dub Techno, Tech House, Minimal - Part 1

My next guest is DJ Joshua from Portugal, who brings a solid dubby installment with many wellknown appreciated producers from the scene in it. DJ Joshua started mixing around 1994/1995. At that time, he also collaborated on local radio shows on electronic music and performed at parties organized together with friends. In those days, while following the beginning and growth of the dance scene in Portugal, his interest in this type of sound and in the development of this culture became increasingly greater.
As his taste for these sounds and the art of djing was always intense, after being away from "mixes" for a long period for various reasons, he returned in 2007 through the creation of an online podcast under the name " Floating Beats Sessions”. This podcast ended up being extended and giving rise to two radio shows broadcast weekly on several online radios across the globe that cover different genres of electronic music.
Nowadays he regularly collaborates as a guest DJ on several podcast series around the world and maintains some series of mixes designed by himself for specific genres.
In 2023 he decided to explore the world of production in more depth way and founded in January of 2024 JFLM Recordings to release his own tracks made by himself through different aliases (Joshua Marian / K-Joshua / Joshua Fernand / Joshua Onairam). He also has several Eps released by labels such as Soul SND, Crossfade Sounds, Piranha Siberia Dub, Slope Point, Techenie Records, Moiss Music, Bassment Tapes, HDRLimit, Back To The Beat Rec, Electric Eden Records, Groove Tag, SUEVI Rec, Microgarden Lab and more new stuff coming out soon.

Growing up in the 90s London, the surrounding electronic music scenes were a huge influence. and when the serious vinyl collecting started. Playing around with DAW’s and electronic sounds for many years, before releasing under the new alias Jay-Son since 2018 first under Good For Year Records and GLF.

Recent releases of EPs and remixes have seen him land on Emerald & Doreen, Paisley Dark, Nein, Rare Wiri, Espacio Cielo, and When Disco Goes Wrong, dipping into hard and soft styles with equal passion and excitement.

The show looks to share tracks from the vinyl collection, some old, some new, as well as digital treats and future releases.

Storied producer Patrick Chardronnet helms the latest release on Lucidflow with a diverse array of tracks backed by a Klartraum remix. Patrick barely needs an introduction but, for those catching up, his appearances include Bedrock Records, Connaisseur Recordings, Crosstown Rebels and Poker Flat. In essence, it is quite the résumé. 

Relishing the chance to flex some dub muscles across three tracks, 'Dub Of Aces' (lyrics: Aero Manyelo) offers something for everyone. The title track itself is a low key house track, taking things into smoked out territories by having the tempo of its elements. 'Traces' is a main room agitating piece of techno, rolling in like a distant storm before taking absolute command with machine driven precision. Then we are taken home with the downtempo 'Miqio', exercising some choice lofi analogue percussion before smothing the track in layers of resonance and hypnotism. 

Nadja Lind and Helmut Ebritch then step up and demonstrate their many years of production nous on their rework of 'Dub Of Aces'. Returning the favour for Patrick's remix of 'Grinsekatze' from their 2018 album 'Void Universes' their touch on 'Dub Of Aces' is deft, bringing the half time elements up to speed, but introducing percussion that is deliciously human in delivery, with every micro-fraction away from the quantized beat is a delicious morsel for the soul. 
'Dub Of Aces' is out on 02.09.19 from all the usual digital stockists.

I first truly discovered electronic music while i was living over in Hamburg, Germany.

I began exploring the more underground clubs in the techno scene and what i found changed my perspective on music completely. It became a passion.

I started mixing tracks i liked at home with some virtual dj software and a modified USB keyboard as a controller. I began to experiment and learn about sound manipulation. I noticed my ears had changed focus and I often found myself analyzing tracks, trying to figure how people had achieved these incredible sounds and picking up on the different rhythmic patterns. It became an obsession.

I then approached making my own tracks starting with simple beats and melodies and constantly creating new sounds and drawing new ideas and fusing it all together as I looked back then on my older work i could hear the progress with each track and would often take good ideas and merge them with my more recent works. I spend probably at least 3 hours a day making music mostly tech house, minimal techno and chilled out sort of groovy shit.
