All Lucidflow EPs - sort by date - fine deep techno,minimal,dub,house

Berlin based duo Klartraum unleash their debut album "Evolution" on their own Lucidflow label as an engrossing recollection of their musical and personal journey so far. Each track adds cryptic clues with each beat that unfolds to reveal a tapestry of individual emotions and experiences along their road of musical discovery. 

With each track created at break neck speed, it is snapshot of the pair’s souls at each point in time. The raw emotion laid out in each piece beckons to the listener’s subconscious, awakening a deeper understanding that oscillates between the world of the listener and artist. 

Unique Shadow is the tentative first step, warm pads meet with a wistful melody, coupled with the longing keys that activate the fringes of your conscious. Plugging the sands of time the track’s open hearted melodies seep into the soul to soften the senses for what is ahead. From opening haze emerges the stark and angular Push Yourself as the album’s path begins to twist itself into shape. Still with narcotic disjointment, Its rhythms convulse with an aquatic ebb, while the low end flirts with the floor.

Past Lives tames the regimented march of it’s predecessor, painting a nostalgic picture that joins the dots between Balearic beaches and Berlin basements. 
Dark and claustrophobic, Lenny Stay Out Of Trouble plucks at the walls of self illusion, while Substance is a more forthright exploration of the sensual natures of dance floor stimulus. 

Neti Neti returns to the void, with its suggestive mechanical melodies cleansing the musical palette. Taking things widescreen, the alien sound scape of Pain Relief opens out into a pulsing super nova, rhythmically pushing and pulling chinks of light through its brooding exterior. Snapping the mind back from the edge of space, Growth ambushes the journey with rolling percussion and deep chords, once again realigning the journey. 

With the energy raised, Passion builds again, with inquisitive melodies and beautifully organic instrumentation. Its warm and earthy textures soon give way to the metronomic, industrial All Dimensions. Designed to pulse deep underground in forgotten bunkers, it recalls the timeless thump of clubs like Tresor.
 
Rising from its stomping predecessor comes Angelo, which has a cinematic quality and a swing that chaperons the journey into the blissfully jacking afterglow of Beyond Illusion. Working the hips again is Casual Waves, which creates a restrained euphoria as the album begins to reach its conclusions. Assured drums and gently ebbing melodies bathe in and edifying light, gently winding things down into Inner Sky and Unique Self. The album’s most self assured moments, the melodies and bass inform each other of an infinite freedom. 

The themes explored as Klartaum jam through their debut take on the long player are entirely universal. Their approach to the format is entirely unique.

This track is deep and low slung. Perfect warm up material Deep Invitation using its off kilter percussive arrangement and melancholic chords provides a great ride throughout. Structure is fantastic,creating passages where you can mix and layer effortlessly which is essential quality I look for in all productions Paul Lorraine showcases an absolute corker of a remix. Low slung locked grooves marinated in bubbling fx and bass stabbs. Paul has been a great signing to the Lucidflow stable, and he certainly demonstrates why here Nadja's remix definitely focuses on the marriage between dark and light passage of sounds. Crazy dark bongo styled rhythms begin this journey until the breakdown which opens up to blissful tones and great spoken word samples and carries on throughout the whole track CDT's take on drunken divine would have to be the most stripped back affair out of the lot at first. Then out of nowhere he creates a broken beat masterpiece with juggling drum patterns and swirling melodies. Great work here. I think they are all equally great productions, but if I had to pick one track that would have to be Drunken Divine. Whilst we usually find him releasing on Lucidflow as one of half of Klartraum, alongside fellow label head Nadja Lind, today Helmut Ebritsch takes centre stage himself, flying solo with his "Drunken Divine" Ep. Having produced electronic music since the mid '90's, Helmut has moved from one genre to another with an enviable ease, always keeping an air of elegant deepness to his music. Under his Hatikvah moniker, alongside Florian Schirmacher, he has released music with Morris Audio, Suol and at the back of end 2010, a debut artist album "Synchronicity" on Soma Recordings. Helmut's "Drunken Divine" Ep is yet another example of the Lucidflow chief's innate skill for creating beautifully melodic and impressively structured productions. The title track, built upon the weightiest of basslines, broken drum pattern and deeply penetrating synth stabs is impressive to say the least. "Deep Invitation" opens with a pounding kick drum, the backbone of the track. Throbbing synth chords are playfully teased by a rhodes melody and an elongated percussive break adds to the power of the track. "Deep Invitation" is the cut that finds itself at the mercy of the remixers and Lucidflow invite three to give present their vision. CDT are, at their own behest, illusive in character. Their remix adds, as if it were possible, an extra layer of bass and beats. New Lucidflow signing and Barcelona resident Paul Loraine injects some glitchy-edged house feeling, whilst Nadja Lind brings her bongos and creates a somewhat cinematic feel on her rework.

Klartraum, the hotly tipped duo of Nadja Lind & Helmut Ebritsch lift the superb ‘UniqueShadow’ from their forthcoming album and look to Terry Francis and Steve Rachmad for remix duties on this outstanding new single….

For those who do not know, Klartraum is the pairing of Helmut Ebritsch & Nadja Lind, two Berlin based producers who have previously recorded for imprints such as Soma, Morris Audio, Darkroom Dubs. They are set to launch their debut album ‘Evolution’ on their own Lucidflow label later this summer but already there is a buzz of excitement about it with DJ’s such as Luciano, Steve Bug, Josh Wink & Laurent Garnier all getting behind their sound.

For the lead up to the album, Klartraum have selected one of the highlights from the LP, the superb ‘Unique Shadow’ for a single release backed with remixes from Terry Francis and Steve Rachmad.

The single kicks of with the original version of ‘Unique Shadow’, a beautifully warm and emotive piece of music underpinned by tight drum programming and brought to life with emotive spoken word vocals, vocals recorded by Ebritsch and Lind with Rabbi & Spiritual teacher Dr. Marc Gafni during a trip to Salt Lake City in 2009.

The first of the remixes comes from UK tech house legend Terry Francis who delivers a rolling acidic reworking that twists up the vocals and delivers an eerie yet rich mix that is certain to set floors alight, quality stuff.

The package is completed with 2 mixes from Dutch techno hero Steve Rachmad. His ‘Vocal dub’ brings a metallic, jackin’ feel to bear with the vocals rubbing up against intense techy stabs and stripped drums, class! The ‘Extended Instrumental mix’ takes the heart-rending melodies of the original and mixes them up with some inspired Detroit style strings and sci-fi sweeps to create a truly superb piece.

This is a simply wonderful single from a duo that you are going to be hearing a lot about in the months to come. Enjoy.

Revered electronic music veteran Gez Varley AKA G-Man teams up with Lucidflow label boss and Klartraum producer Nadja Lind for a superb 4 track EP of stripped organic techno come house….
Gez Varley AKA G-Man has been a key player on the electronic music scene for over20 years, recording as LFO in the late eighties and early nineties for Warp and going on to build a solo career recording forthelikesofForce Inc, K7, Wir and ofcoursehis own GMR Records. Varley became acquainted with Lucidflow label owner and Klartraum producer, Nadja Lind when she recently took on remix duties for the G-Man classic ‘El Jem’. The two hit it off musically and a collaboration was soon on the cards, leading to the recordings of this first EP, entitled ‘G-Catz’ (apparently the pair are both big fans of feline company).
The EP opens up with the wonderfully heady ‘Purr’, a stripped yet organic sounding slice of techno that is reminiscent of classic Basic Channel. A subtle pulsing loop runs over taught percussion and swirling FX creating a deep hypnotic vibe that is truly sublime.
Next up we continue the cat the medtitling with the excellent ‘Meow’, a tightly produced piece of techno/house fusion that builds a solid groove around tough drums,‘purring’ keystabs and monophonic bass, simple, understated and quite brilliant.
The third cut sees Varley and Lind deliver the brilliant ‘CatNap’, a beautifully paced piece of rolling deep techno that uses subtlety and restraint to produce a marvelous piece of electronica that has a tripped out, heads down feel.
To finish things off the duo turn a little darker with ‘Ball of Fur’, a mesmerizing piece of techno with a slightly menacing air, yet the same deft touch of production that makes this whole EP so outstanding, pure quality!
Apparently Varley and Lind have another EP in the pipeline, and if this is anything to go by then we are truly in for a further treat.These recordings were all written and recorded remotely, with the two producers bouncing tracks back and forth between their respective studios, but it is clear that there’s a real musical chemistry here; long may it last!
