On the third single drop from his forthcoming debut album, the Dutch  artist and composer Andert Tysma delivers the tender and emotive  ‘Invitation’, backed by a truly mesmerising video. 

Tysma’s neo-classical compositions really do stop the listener in their  tracks, and on ‘Invitation’ a delicate piano performance and heart  tugging slide guitar make a breath-taking combination. 

On ‘Children Of Trinoom’, to be released on Apollo Records in  September, Tysma fully immerses himself in a solo offering of  breath-taking quality. The seasoned musician has toured the world  performing bass and piano with several artists and bands and it is on  this, his debut long player, that he tells an abstract autobiographical  story across eight diverging tracks. 

Recorded primarily in Atlas Studios on the outskirts of Berlin and engineered and mixed by the award-winning Robin Hunt, who  constructed a unique recording space in a repurposed GDR metal  foundry, the long player brings together eight emotive and tender  compositions showcasing the refreshing neo-classic style that Tysma has made his own.

Dutch artist and composer Andert Tysma come out from behind the shadows to release his debut album on Apollo Records this autumn. The seasoned musician has toured the world performing bass and piano with several artists and bands, and on ‘Children Of Trinoom’, Tysma fully immerses himself in a solo offering of breathtaking quality.

Recorded primarily in Atlas Studios on the outskirts of Berlin and engineered and mixed by the award winning Robin Hunt, who constructed a unique recording space in a repurposed GDR metal foundry, the long player brings together eight emotive and tender compositions showcasing the refreshing neo-classic style that Tysma has made his own.

A visit to Nashville, Tennessee and a love of country music led to the incorporation of the pedal steel guitar into Tysma’s music, played beautifully by David Gram on two tracks here. ‘Children Of Trinoom’ continues to take influence from everyday situations and decisions, as well as from the world of art, music and literature. The album is, in part, inspired by the Dutch jazz conductor, pianist, trumpeter and latterly (like Tysma himself), a doctor, Boy Edgar.

The entirely instrumental suite of compositions tells an abstract autobiographical story in eight diverging tracks, investigating the juxtaposition of a disparate world, an essential theme for Tysma.

Blunted beats and dusty hip-hop influences are intertwined into ‘Rumble Around’, the new collaborative single between Nphonix and Matrika.

Nphonix is one of the many aliases of Moscow electronic producer Fedor Stepanenko, having already released a diverse range of productions encompassing drum & bass, juke, footwork, bass, techno and house sounds.  And with a hugely successful career as the drum & bass producer Enei, London based Alexy Egorchenkov apots his Matrika alias for this fresh partnership.

Swirling horn licks and micro hip-hop hooks get mangled in the MPC sampler, spitting out the deliciously funky ‘Rumble Around’, its hefty beats affording this track lots of weight and attitude crammed into its short running time.

‘In Yr Dreams’ is a uniquely slanted take on classic UK Garage, with heavily overdriven drums and an earworm vocal which develops into a hoover bass-driven apocalyptic cacophony, faintly reminiscent of a classic bit of Doc Scott DnB.

Manchester based DJ/producer Antagonist cues up a collection of dense and uncompromising electronic tracks on his R&S Records debut. The ‘Rites’ EP pulls together 5 new tracks that lean on the artist’s drum ‘n’ bass roots and influences, a sound that has informed his DJ sets and studio productions since he launched the project in 2004.

Channeling his productions towards the more cinematic and darker side of drum ‘n’ bass and broken beats, Antagonist has released a strong run of EPs for labels such as Samurai Music, Ronin Ordinance, One. Seventy and his own Discipline imprint, stamping his hybrid sound across these well received releases.

Layers upon layers of shadowy ambience and wistful tones are punctured by hard edged beat-science, as Antagonist goes in deep on the complex breakbeats, chopping back and forth knifelike loops and dynamic kicks.
