First single to be released from Dutch artist and composer Andert Tysma's forthcoming album ‘Children Of Trinoom’.

Recorded primarily in Atlas Studios on the outskirts of Berlin and engineered and mixed by the award-winning Robin Hunt, who constructed a unique recording space in a repurposed GDR metal foundry, the long player brings together eight emotive and tender compositions showcasing the refreshing neo-classic style that Tysma has made his own.

A visit to Nashville, Tennessee and a love of country music led to the incorporation of the pedal steel guitar into Tysma’s music, played beautifully by David Gram on two tracks here. ‘Children Of Trinoom’ continues to take influence from everyday situations and decisions, as well as from the world of art, music and literature. The album is, in part, inspired by the Dutch jazz conductor, pianist, trumpeter and latterly (like Tysma himself), a doctor, Boy Edgar.

The entirely instrumental suite of compositions tells an abstract autobiographical story in eight diverging tracks, investigating the juxtaposition of a disparate world, an essential theme for Tysma.

Accomplished musician and composer Jackson Mico Milas unveils his debut album this November. ‘Blu Terra’ brings together eleven tender and emotive compositions and finds the British-Australian artist hitting his stride. 

New single ‘White Noise’ follows first album track drop ‘Lost In Seasons’, which has picked up airplay from BBC 6 Music’s Cerys Matthews and came alongside a hypnotic visualizer for its B-side ‘Katia Standing Alone’.

On ‘White Noise’, Jackson’s eclectic sonic vista expands from the hushed acoustic lushness of ‘Lost In Seasons’, inviting the listener further into his intimate world, with subtle electronics and gorgeous airy atmospheres layered over organic drums and double bass. ‘White Noise’ washes over the listener like a cool summer breeze, with Jackson’s soft vocal hooks and melancholic tones penetrating that inner psyche. The accompanying video is the first of three video which will progressively expand visually to narrate his Album. “White Noise” sees Jackson on a secluded beach, the waves and sea foam crashing behind as the song’s moods progress and expands.

Following the opener is Born In The River which was released on 10 February 2023. The track features tribal-like breakbeat sandwiched by hallowed chants – A juxtaposed scene; gravity is blanketed by serenity. 

“The track Born In The River is about how we all were born in the river. When we are born, we aren’t in a stable situation, everything around us is ever-moving. The river symbolises that constant motion. My zodiac sign is Pisces, so there is a little of me in this track also.” The Allegorist

Born in the fast-moving river, she was part of it. The river didn’t cause her to be who she was, but it was her origin in this life. She could have stayed, but a beat in her heart made her fingers tremble; a longing in her spirit for life and a driving force in her mind called her by her name. And so she left to risk, live, explore, and follow the invisible.

Today, in the deep silence of the cold midnight, she couldn’t fall asleep. It was all the effort of the journey that kept her awake. Gray fog lay heavy on her mind. Resting her head on a stone with her legs tucked up, her heart was beating in pain, and her limbs felt heavy and tired. All those years spent walking thousands of miles through deserts and winds, climbing up mountains and swimming through seas, learning where to take turns, how to read meanings in the stars, studying maps of various cultures, seeking knowledge of all kinds, and still, now, she was lost.

Dreaming of answers within her, she woke in the light of tomorrow, and between the trees on the little meadow wet with dew, the first rays of spring’s sun beamed through.

Tone Science sub-label, from DiN records, continues to explore the world of modular synth music.

The first seven volumes on the Tone Science sub-label featured 63 musicians (9 on each album) with varying backgrounds and styles, showcasing the wonderful richness and variety inherent in the world of modular synthesis. The next step was to transfer this concept to a live performance and hence the inaugural Tone Science Live concert, which took place at the Capstone Theatre in Liverpool on the evening of 22nd April 2023. 

All five musicians were set up onstage simultaneously and each played solo before joining together at the end. Field Lines Cartographer opened the evening with a beautiful set full of glistening textures and pulsating oscillations. Next came Nigel Mullaney with a more upbeat performance, featuring the famous “Pale Blue Dot” speech from Carl Sagan which seemed very appropriate as the 22nd April was Earth Day. After a short interval, Polypores took to the stage with a breath-taking display of modular synth virtuosity, with him constantly shifting and morphing the myriad sequencer patterns and tones emanating from his modular system. DiN label boss Ian Boddy followed with a sonic trip through four ambient sections, seamlessly mixing minimal ambience with vibrant pulsing sequencers before falling away to a tranquil conclusion. After another short break, Scanner played a stunning set featuring field recordings and disarming vocal samples and building up a monumental industrial rhythm from the simplest of ingredients.

The evening ended in fine style with all five musicians taking to the stage and performing an ambient drone piece inspired by the early American minimalist composers. At the helm was Scanner, mixing and shaping the overall sound of the music as it slowly grew in intensity to fill the hall with a mesmerising wash of tones. A fitting end to what was a fantastic evening of music from five musicians coaxing such varied and beautiful sounds from their small modular systems.

The entire evening is presented as a double CD in a 6-panel Digipak with accompanying 8 page booklet. A must-have album for followers of the Tone Science series.
