For L/B016 Austrian composer Aleksandar Kos aka Synthakt has done it again with 2 pieces that show his art of production. We are putting an emphasis on ‘composer’ as by now you have probably heard his “Memento Mori Ep” and it’s title song. For the A side he brings you the truly skullstepian “Desert Sun” which has been destroying opera houses all over europe. The flip “Prodia” is more waltz oriented with a triple grid that will not allow you to stand still for a nanosecond!

New no-fuss label from Pessimist focussed on (yep!) his own productions and collaborations. This first outing offers up two droning, paranoid breakbeat dreadnoughts that are unmistakeable Pess. His signature numinous drones and all-pervading sense of DREAD are present and correct, but rhythmically it’s a decisive step away from drum ’n bass into more of an Isolationist, industrial hip-hop zone - most obviously on ’SPRTLZM’, which feels like part of the same chilling-with-the-wrong-b-boy lineage as DJ Scud and I-Sound’s Wasteland gear and Scorn’s mighty Gyral. ‘SCIFI’ strips things back to a kind of downtempo gangsta techno - bombed-out and blunted but with a grim unstoppable It Follows momentum. Proper!

PRIME DIRECTIVE stands as the collaborative crossbreed & industrial project of like minded artists NEKS & KATHARSYS, who combine their many years of experience within the Drum & Bass and Hardcore genres for a synergistic synthesis of their hard edged sounds. Born of simple conversation between NEKS & Hugo of the KATHARSYS project, PRIME DIRECTIVE promises to focus upon the complex interactions found at the rough hewn edges of Hardcore and Drum & Bass as the two combine their unique specialties amd blur the lines between the two oft- separated genres.

The head of Othercide Records, NEKS has made a name for himself as both a DJ and curator within the harder edges of the Drum & Bass spectrum on the label and its hardcore subdivision, Othercide Inferno. Following in the footsteps of collaborative tracks with artists such as Freqax and DJ Akira, PRIME DIRECTIVE sees NEKS ramping up the output of his personal productions in collaboration with one half of the KATHARSYS project.

One of the foremost champions of both dark Drum & Bass and Crossbreed, KATHARSYS’ twenty year journey within the genre has seen them release on a massive array of labels, including those such as Habit, Barcode, and NEKS’ own Othercide Records. Known for their unflinching devotion to the genre’s most high energy extremes and propagating it through their DJ sets, KATHARSYS’ combination with the like minded NEKS sets the stage for a project focused on taking Crossbreed & Industrial to their maximal extremes.

With three forthcoming releases on the Nekrolog1k, Oblivion Underground, and Othercide Records labels, PRIME DIRECTIVE stands ready to unleash a destructive trilogy of Crossbreed & Hardcore as NEKS & KATHARSYS surge forth beyond their previous boundaries on the basis of their newfound collaboration.
