Boston mainstay Lucky Dice is gearing up to release his hotly anticipated new album, 'M.O.S.A. (Memoirs of a Starving Artist),' in just a few weeks. And based on his new single, “Memoirs,” it’s clear that the rapper is poised to further cement his place in the city’s storied Hip-Hop scene.

The track is a personal and thoughtful look into the life of Dice, who talks candidly about being a struggling underground artist. But he delivers his bars without any bitterness or frustration, just a raw honesty that Hip-Hop heads of all kinds will instantly love. And as for that horns-laden, head-nodding instrumental, it’s from fellow Bostonian Berdz.

Fans of Northeastern rap have become familiar with Dice over the past few decades through his own solo work and frequent collaborations with REKS (who appears on the new album). While Dice has released previous projects such as 2013’s Blowing Smoke, he considers 'M.O.S.A.' his proper debut. So it’s only fitting that the music we’ve heard from it so far—”The Underground” and “Memoirs”—has been nothing short of outstanding.

With his highly anticipated LP, 'M.O.S.A (Memoirs of a Starving Artist)' now available, Boston rapper Lucky Dice highlights, “No Message,” an undeniable banger that demonstrates his incredible, pure talents as an emcee. 

Given his more than two decades worth of experience, Lucky has more than proven that he’s a beyond-capable artist—but that doesn’t mean he’s lost an ounce of hunger. His desire to straight-up body a beat is on full display throughout the Jon Glass-produced “No Message,” an aptly titled track that strays from the more thoughtful, previously released single “Memoirs.” Because on this joint, it’s all about the bars.

“No Message” is packed to the brim with quotables—and some not-so-subtle reminders that you should probably watch Goodfellas again sometime soon. And while most of his lyrics are of the sh*t-talking variety, Lucky remains self-aware of his status in the game, rapping: “Yeah I did a lot of things but no, I ain’t great yet/ Rather just build and destroy it, give ‘em the basics.” Recognizing that is on-fire guest Phinelia, who kills the second verse with bars like, “Me and Dice, we gettin’ our money right/ No free speeches, no money, we don’t wanna write (right).”

But the absolute best part of the cut? That’s the final verse, when Lucky and Phinelia trade bars on some bad-guy, tag-team shit that will leave you hoping that they’ll end up recording an entire project together.

Boston Hip-Hop mainstay Lucky Dice has been a force in his hometown’s scene for more than two decades, dropping a slew of notable mixtapes, singles, and guest features. And with 'M.O.S.A. Fans got a taste of the record in the first half of 2016, when Dice dropped his fantastic street single, “The Underground,” featuring Chi Knox and frequent collaborator REKS. From there, the rap community was waiting on what was next while the emcee continued toiling away and perfecting 'M.O.S.A.' The arrival of this winter’s raw and honest “Memoirs” revealed that Dice was ready to bring his album to the masses—and yes, it’s finally here.
