2014-07-14 - Analog Exploration

Heroes and Villains 2:  I did not want this (villain's theme)

In 2007 I met a girl named Brandy.  We collaborated on some music and it went really well.  Songs were written and an amazing demo was recorded.

On the day we were supposed to record the final vocals...  nothing!  She vanished.  Phone number stopped working.  Website closed.  Never heard from her again.

Not really sure what happened and the whole experience left me scratching my head.  It's too bad--she was really talented and this was a great track.

It's You (Unfinished Instrumental)

I found this remix on an old hard disk and it stopped me dead in my tracks.

I remember absolutely *HATING* this remix when we were working on it.  My bandmate Taiho and stripped down our band's first single, and I thought we stripped away too much.  Now when I hear it, I'm struck by the stark, minimalist beauty of the song.  I almost like this more than the original.

Turns out Taiho's original instinct was right.
