Halfby is the solo project of Kyoto, Japan resident artist, DJ Takahiro Takahashi. He is very active in Japan's live music scene. His style is based on Breakbeats and Hip hop but is also influenced by a wide range of other musical styles including Rock, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Bossa Nova, Reggae and Calypso.

Since his debut in 2002, Halfby has released three EPs and one full-length album in 2005 titled "Green Hours", all of which sold particularly well and reached appreciable positions on indie ranking charts. Building on the success of his EP Half Works, he remixed songs for other Japanese artists including Cubismo Grafico, m-flo, Doping Panda, and Halcali. He also collaborated with Strauss (Tatsuki Hashimoto) to compose the soundtracks of Katsuyuki Motohiro's movie "Summertime Machine Blues" and performed at large music festivals in Japan including Summersonic and Count Down Japan. He continues to receive praise for his work from other Japanese artists such as Fantastic Plastic Machine and Yasuharu Konishi (ex Pizzicato Five).

And his dreamy but strong sound is supported by amazing musicians such as Satoshi Inoue(Gt.), a jazz guitarist tutored by Jim Hall and Ron Carter, Shunsuke Ochi(Bass.), kiki vivi lily(Cho.), and Kohei Ando(Gt, Sax).
