In this first episode of the podcast, I talk about the mission of this project- to encourage listeners to engage with art in a conscious and ethical manner. I provide just a few of many examples of this, such as examining instances of cultural appropriation, like in the history of Detroit techno, the longstanding dilemma of separating the art from the artist, and lastly, I propose we acknowledge the labor and contributions of marginalized groups, like women, in the development of technology and electronic music. This ties into the broader idea that technology is not solely a tool of liberation, but one that can also enable oppression.

In the following segment, I provide context for the podcast, explaining that it is a final project for a Diversity of Music Technology course at the University of Michigan. I also share a bit of my personal story and motivation for undertaking this project.

Lastly, the episode features a musical piece, "Mariposas acuáticas," by Venezuelan electroacoustic composer Oksana Linde.

FNTR Episode 1 - Intro

Like a chiptune medley for a fictional game. Really tried hard to emulate Jake Kaufman but unlike many chiptune things it's in stereo and stuff. Definitely one of my best compositions though. Was thinking this would be the first track I release on Spotify but I can wait, still improve at mixing and everything, and kind of figure out what kind of music I want to establish that I make in the long run.

Super Duper Mashups

A†ROCI†Y EXHIBI†ION Danny Brown X Justice Mashup

A very, very easy mashup that I made last Saturday max 3-4 hours. There was like a 4 bpm difference and man those Exmilitary stems are a blessing, I pretty much muted the drums for most of it and it worked out. Made a couple automation adjustments to bring out the vocals when V's Theme got too thick, but other than that, it just worked together so well.

Planning to make an image for it, but my placeholder is a vector landscape I made for Digital Art class. Enjoy!

[9/7/20 UPDATE] I got the photoshop done. Took a bit of meticulousness but I think it's good and pretty funny if you played the game. Enjoy!
