"Sentient is the moniker for Madhav Jolly, a producer / DJ and designer from India. His music paints ethereal landscapes with nostalgic melodies and sounds. Combining techno, trance, acid and breakbeats, his music is versatile and provides listeners with various atmospheric textures weaved for the dancefloor and the headphone raver."

This one is a fantastic blend of acidy-breakbeat goodness with a sprinkle of his original production mixed in bound to put a spring in your step!

DJ Showcase 001: Sentient Guest Mix - Between The Breaks

Our first premiere of the week comes from Bangor born, and now Auckland based, DJ Koncept. The New Zealand based producer has supplied a blissful liquid drum and bass symphony, touching off golden age jungle memories and knitting them with future concepts.

Originally from Bangor Co Down, and now based in Auckland NZ, DJ Koncept has been a DJ for around 20 years. He Started off his musical journey with hip hop, and then moved onto producing Drum & Bass, and more recently Breakbeat Hardcore.

Koncept veers towards music that is more mellow and melodious, and he’s partial to head-nodding breakbeats and pounding bass. Artists like as A Sides and Kool Keith have appeared on DJ Koncept’s releases, and Koncept has won many competitive DJ battle’s as turntablist. Koncept has clearly not shy’d away from releasing and competing and has has garnered several accolades over the years. Aside from becoming the 2018 UK DMC Champion, he regularly combines turntablism aspects into his live DJ performances and music productions.

DJ Koncept has two projects due for release on the well-known labels Kniteforce and Remix Records, as well as co-running two labels with his brother Adam aka Albert Wesker. ‘Vinyl Combat’ is the main label the pair run which is now dedicated to DnB, as well as the more recently established ‘Knife Skills’ label with a focus on alternative forms of breakbeat music. They’re now up to their 17th release with more forthcoming material inbound. 

Koncept has put together a six minute masterpiece that is soulful and funky yet melodic and euphoric. Vocal swells are met with warm fluffy pads that drift around the mix like a white cloud on a sunny day. Reverb tails and vocal screeches create tension for unique and sublime elated moments. This seems like somewhat of a throwback to late 90’s and early 00’s jungle jubilant memories but Koncept has managed to carve out an idiosyncratic 2022 interoperation that remains unique yet reflective.

Four Four Premiere: DJ Koncept - Feel Good [Vinyl Combat]

If there's one thing we're keen to do more of, it's support the DnB and jungle scene. The Irish scene has been gathering steam in the background, consistently putting out quality, and keeping its head fully immersed in the sound. 

We're proud to report back that it's stronger than ever, and this latest release from Irish label inHabit proves just that. Today we premiere the track 'Circles' by Rizzle Feat. Georgia Rose.

Those of you who've been following the label a while know that whenever they find the right material they like to make space for the deeper, more musical moments to shine through, and that's what this collection here is all about. They're coming at this series from a different angle again this time too, with a four track EP that centres the considerable talents of extraordinary vocalist Georgia Rose. Four of their favourite producers, Brainwork, Subdue, Rizzle and Thread have built and arranged a tune each around four full vocal performances, each bringing their own perspectives. Today we premiere one of our favourite tracks on the EP 'Circles' by Rizzle Feat. Georgia Rose.

Returning to inHabit again and fresh off the back of an extremely impressive Metalheadz release, Rizzle shows off a different side to his productions with EP title track Circles, with strings, melody and bass all doing their thing, using cleverly edited and tweaked vocal cuts and edits from Georgia Rose. 

These four tunes will get you out of some tight spots, they'll lift you up, they'll rescue any floor that's flagging in the absence of feelings, you can dance to them with your eyes closed or open, we hope you enjoy them in the company of friends and friends you haven't made yet.

Ōtautahi label Club Unique kick off 2021 with a collaborative EP from co-founder Keanu Raves and prolific local talent Harvo.

The two-track techno offering showcases Harvo’s penchant for tough melodic hooks and Raves’ racing sim soundtrack meets dancefloor style.

On ‘Ice Digital’, the pair combine layers of cold wavetable pads with FM synthesised drums to create an enticing and hypnotic atmosphere. A growling saw drone gives way to a haunting flute melody, accompanied by vocal pads and frozen reverbs to complete the world building soundtrack of ‘Ice Digital’.

‘Never Get Tired’ turns up the heat by inviting listeners into a pressurized cavern of driving, crunchy synth lines and insistent percussion. A euphoric and soulful vocal sample emerges elevating the mood towards peak-time rave territory.
