Silent Servant

For the 40th edition of our Textures podcast, we welcome the rising Polish artist Aksamit for a very special Vinyl set in between deep, hypnotic and tribal. Tracklist below 🌿

Wrocław DJ, resident at Ciało, and founder of Affekt and Velvet Vortex, Aksamit is definitely a rising talent of the polish techno scene. Her love for vinyl led her to the Berlin club Tresor, in which she played during the iconic Klubnacht & All You Need Is Ears. She has performed in most Polish clubs and festivals - Wisłoujście, Revive, Instytut, LAS Festival, Kaskada Festival and Audioriver Festival. She has also performed outside of Poland - Germany, Spain, Andorra, Denmark, Ireland and the UK. She recently won the Polish Club Stage award in the Munoludy plebiscite in the Discovery of the Year 2018 category. During her short 3-year history within techno music, she had the honour of playing alongside such artists as Dasha Rush, Ellen Allien, Chris Liebing, Keith Carnal, Neel, Takaaki Itoh, Perc, Monoloc, Tadeo, Introversion, Luigi Tozzi, Claudio, PRC, Korridor or Refracted.

About the mix:
If we describe the mix in a nutshell, it's ambient and hypnotic techno combined with sounds of the living nature.
The main purpose of this mix is to bring the listener a little closer to nature. At least one step. As much as possible through music. The singing of birds, the murmur of water, the buzzing of insects and the noise of the wind are organically woven into the tracks throughout the mix.

It's like a leisurely walk through a summer forest, when we deeply breathe fresh air, admire the views and try to hear every sound that nature gives us.

Revelation of Sound is pleased to present Zemög. Over the years, Zemög kept the sound while adding personal field recordings, modular personality and experimentation, eventually cultivating a blend of intuitive design with technical value. His musical progression allowed him to get closer to unknown sonorous passages, offering him his main artistic and spiritual inspiration.

He is a sonic explorer and vinyl collector who is known to constantly push the threshold when it comes to sound design and tone manipulation. He has been an active DJ since 2012 with residency in several clubs in his hometown Pereira and has played with several well known international artists. As composer he made his officially debut in 2019 on From a Lost Place label with ‘Vuoto EP’, followed by releases on Ordinamento Selettivo, Circular Limited, the italian label Different Exhibition where he was remixed by Claudio PRC, and his last production focused on ambient in Huinali. Also have worked on other VA colaborations and remixes around the globe.

His project is deeply inspired by mountain ecosystems and indigenous cultural and musical environments composing Ambient, Deep Techno, Tribal and Dub taking as a sound source modular synthesis, field recordings and aboriginal meditation instruments. His mixes and original work very often shows organic minimalism, tribalism and deep environments representing the beauty of meditation and mental expansion.

He is also co-founder and visual artist of Matteria, a collective that makes electronic music events in Pereira, Colombia.

Clarence Rise [France]

We've already read that his music is dark and cold. It is also beautiful and subtle. French producer Clarence Rise has developed a strong, intense and singular musical identity, where incisive techno meets the icy atmospheres of coldwave. Some people characterize his work as Cinematic or Cold Techno, with a strong focus on complex rhythms, dark sound design and contemplative melancholy.
Author of numerous releases on different labels (Khoros Records, Chez KitoKat, Bella Ursa, Spazio Magnetico...), this DJ and live artist makes his shows real journeys, as powerful as introspective.

Although the two are geographically very far apart, Silent Servant based in Los Angeles, US and Broken English Club based in London, UK, the two share a similar outlook and musical approach. Both projects have been on the rise lately, and stem from a strongly rooted techno background. Combining their influences of dance music, techno, EBM, industrial and post-punk, Silent Servant and Broken English Club offer a new breed of EBM infused techno wave on the Violence And Divinity EP. Central American born Silent Servant has performed worldwide in clubs from LA, Berlin to Osaka. A chance meeting with Karl O'Conner in 1999 would establish a friendship that would open the door to the Sandwell District label in 2006. Silent Servant's sound is a reinterpretation of early '80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of Basic Channel and Downwards.

Lucy is the nom de techno of Italian-born and Berlin-based Luca Mortellaro, one of the genre’s most exciting and ambitious DJ/producers. Since 2009, Mortellaro has focused his work through his own Stroboscopic Artefacts label, building an imprint and personal discography that has established itself as one of techno’s finest.
Lucy (née Luca Mortellaro) is one of the pre-eminent sonic adventurers of his time. Not bound to conventional pre-conceptions of what an electronic musician, producer, or DJ must be, Lucy has evolved his distinct sound signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology. In doing so, he has become rare as an artist, in his ability to please an audience while also introducing them to elements they were not yet familiar with and thereby pushing them out of their comfort zone. Whether he is acting in the role of producer, DJ, performer, or Stroboscopic Artefacts’ curator, Lucy’s clear passion for creative evolution and mutation is something that continues to attract new listeners, and keeps giving his current supporters new reasons to continue tuning in.
