Kuba Sojka’s ‘Before Life’ EP on Rekids Special Projects (RSPX) starts with 'Fundamental Structures', a superb blend of futuristic moods, warped bass, and precision drums with spiritually minded melodies swirling around its lurching groove. 'Imago' is then a lithe, colourful cut with bubbling low ends and tripped-out synth motifs next to organic percussion, making for a beautiful mental excursion that journeys into deep space before 'Metamorphis' explores ambient-laced drum & bass. Closing out Sojka’s ‘Before Life’ EP is the superb 'Void of Self' completing this varied EP with an elastic deep house groove topped with dry hits and
sugar synth work.

Kuba Sojka is a live performer, musician, and producer who draws on funk, jazz, and soul sounds. He brings an experimental edge to his music and has explored IDM, electro, future jazz, and acid under his Kuba Sojka and Psi-Acoustic projects. He has landed on labels like Mathematics, Matrix Records, International Day Off Records, and Radio Slave’s RSPX, on which he released his ‘Life’ EP in April 2024, which won support from Ben Sims, Carista, Laurent Garnier, and Elisa Bee.

Sounds From NoWhere is pleased to premiere a new Scan 7' gem on 'Tresor Records'.

Patience is a virtue well-rewarded in techno; finding the right groove to build on then holding your nerve long enough to pay off the wait at the optimum moment is a much more skillful endeavour than it would seem for such a minimalistic style. 
And few display this talent better than Detroit originals Scan 7.

Part of the hallowed Underground Resistance family, Scan 7 first broke out in the mid- 90s with a series of jacking machine funk 12”s that showcased their savvy for self- control - a faculty they have demonstrated in releases year-on-year since.

Highlighting this continuous font of vitality, Tresor records has returned to the source and is proud to announce the reissue of Scan 7’s debut LP, Dark Territory.

First unleashed on the label in 1996, the album has been remastered from the original DATs by Mike Grinser, augmenting already powerful tracks such as the snake-like, tea- sing Unusual Channel (mixed by the master Blake Baxter), and the harder-edged VII resulting in music that will, without doubt, provoke an enhanced response when the pressure is finally released.

Repressed on vinyl with (slightly) updated artwork, these tracks still sound like a blueprint for the future, testament to the prescience and assurance Scan 7’s leader, Trackmaster Lou, clearly had when writing “I hope you enjoy my records in the phuture to come” in the sleeve notes nearly 30 years ago.

Hasvat Informant is for the deep listeners. The Naarm/Melbourne based producer and DJ wields a powerful yet subtle type of techno that’s dark and delicate, coaxing dancers into burrowing hollows with rhythmically dexterous sets.

Based in Naarm/Melbourne, the producer and DJ draws dancers into intricate rhythmic worlds, thriving in intimate club settings where he can lose himself in the booth and the dance floor. With a background as a sound and light technician, his sets are a homage to immersive dance floor moments and formative teen club experiences. A self-taught artist and a regular on Amniote Editions, Hasvat Informant begins each track by exploring a distinct timbre, anchoring his productions in sonic discovery. Now, he expands his creative horizons, venturing beyond rigid bounds of genre, all whilst balancing studio time with local and international performances.

She has been making a name for herself and her mark on the dance floors by using a diverse and colorful music selection. Di Linh flawlessly brings her taste of music from north to south around Vietnam, Europe and SouthEast Asia. Each space gives her different inspiration as she is consistently developing herself to ensure the audience falls into a trance whilst also staying true to herself. She knows how to lead audiences' emotions into her own story, leaving them with a strong impression after each set through a variety of sounds such as Disco, House and Techno.

About the mix:
These are my recent favorite gems and this mix reminds me of the vibe in The Cave at (Re)treat Festival last month! A high-energy wave blended between house, break-beat, and techno.

Premiere: Zisko 'Climax'

Lucy’s ‘Banality of Evil’ EP teases apart the dark sides of human psychology and lays them down as fractured, angular tracks. Inspired by Hannah Arendt’s writings on conformity and totalitarianism SA013 makes for provocative listening.
‘Superior Orders’ is an off kilter introduction: Lucy took synth lines that Roll The Dice crafted in Stockholm and broke them down, buckling the lines and revealing their malevolence. ‘Stanford Prison’ layers wistful top lines over driving base creating a fluid, transitory atmosphere. ‘Milgram Experiment’ opens with a beautifully simple sequence and splinters into deep, warm dub. The track includes voices, but these are not catchy euphoric vocals,
instead a voice repeats: ‘I began to feel that I was losing my identity’. The tracks don’t aim to soundtrack the experiments and theories of their
titles, instead they act as a point in case. Their dense structures and repeating sequences hint at how conformity and obedience normalize the darkest of human behaviours. ‘Asch Paradigm’ is a stunning, molten close, it feels heavy and weighted but as with the EP as a hole, Lucy handles this dark material with an incredible lightness of touch.

SA013 was craftily mastered by Artefacts Mastering, Berlin.

Lucy is the nom de techno of Italian-born and Berlin-based Luca Mortellaro, one of the genre’s most exciting and ambitious DJ/producers. Since 2009, Mortellaro has focused his work through his own Stroboscopic Artefacts label, building an imprint and personal discography that has established itself as one of techno’s finest.
Lucy (née Luca Mortellaro) is one of the pre-eminent sonic adventurers of his time. Not bound to conventional pre-conceptions of what an electronic musician, producer, or DJ must be, Lucy has evolved his distinct sound signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology. In doing so, he has become rare as an artist, in his ability to please an audience while also introducing them to elements they were not yet familiar with and thereby pushing them out of their comfort zone. Whether he is acting in the role of producer, DJ, performer, or Stroboscopic Artefacts’ curator, Lucy’s clear passion for creative evolution and mutation is something that continues to attract new listeners, and keeps giving his current supporters new reasons to continue tuning in.
