For Lucy Eliza, it has always been about pop: the resonance of one voice with an appeal so far-reaching that it’s almost unquestionable. Raised on the gleaming vocals of pop progenitors Ellie Goulding and Selena Gomez and inspired by the way they melded their sound with EDM sensibilities, 20-year-old Lucy Eliza found her confidence as an artist, and as a woman, in their world. Now, she is ready to be a part of it.

Her love of pop music allowed the York-based singer to expand her mind and her horizons, with her sights set firmly on the creative hive of the capital. But until she was 13 years old, she was entirely unaware of the distinction of her voice. Lucy Eliza had already mastered the acoustic and electric guitar, listening to the arena-swelling chart toppers of Sia and Katy Perry on the way home from school. It was only until a music teacher told her that her voice held real promise that Lucy Eliza began to draw on her gifts to create a sound that was all of her own. 

Now, she is an artist with conviction. Her sound is prismatic, with the dance-infused streaks of Kygo and Ava Max bleeding into her music. After striking out alone, Lucy Eliza’s earliest tracks were made remotely in her bedroom with her Blue Yeti USB Microphone – and sometimes, if she was lucky, she’d sneak into one of her university’s practise rooms which were usually reserved only for music students. 

While Lucy Eliza is poised at the starting block, her career thus far has been a series of compromises: working remotely, with touch-and-go equipment and limited access. But now, with the release of her moonlit, EDM-inflected cover of Billie Eilish’s, “No Time To Die”, the wait is over.
