The film “The Blues Brothers” accompanied me throughout my childhood. It’s about two brothers, who want to put on a huge show to save the orphanage in which they grew up in. For this purpose, they bring their former band back together. The performances, the songs, the energy – I soaked it all up while watching and I knew: I wanted to be a musician.

I was able to win over the producer Micki Meuser (Ina Deter, Silly, Die Ärzte) for the recording of my third album “Turn of Tides or Where the Waves Come From” which received four stars by RnR Magazine, was called a “colourful kaleidoscope of earwormy song pearls” by Schall Magazin and was shortlisted by the German Record Critics’ Award. The album is a collection of tales with the sea as the setting. For me oceans are simply magical and a great source of inspiration. I remember visiting my grandfather in North Devon. We’d sit on the cliffs for hours, watching the waves hit the shore. Now these memories have flown into the album.

Recently I co-wrote and sang a song with the film composer Freya Arde for the current adaptation of the novel by Erich Kästner called “Das Fliegende Klassenzimmer” (The Flying Classroom). I live in Berlin and although I love writing stories in my songs and recording them, my true passion lies in performing and doing what I do best: Putting Rock ’n’ Roll into Folk.
