Enjoy this spacious binaural night-time soundscape featuring drip from nearby trees, the continuous trilling of tree crickets, hoots of Barred Owls, and peeps of Spring Peepers. Recorded at 11am, 25 Sept 2017, in Shindagin Hollow near Brooktondale, New York. Please listen using headphones!

This is definitely one of my favorites! I set my soundscape microphone at the edge of a beaver pond and let it run all night long. It was about 60F and tree crickets trilled continuously. It had rained the evening before, so there's drip from the trees. Listen too for subtle water sounds caused by ... I'm not sure ... fish, frogs, drips hitting the water, maybe even swimming beaver? Spring Peepers occasionally call from shrubs at the edge of the pond ... this is their "autumn piping," not their mating calls. 

The hoots of Barred Owls are prominent throughout. At first you will hear the hoots of a distant owl, After several minutes, an owl calls from close-by, followed eventually by two bouts of a pair "hootin'-it-up" as they rally after being separated, their hoots magically echoing across the hollow.

I rather like this immersive 10-minute soundscape, which features highlights from two different nights of recording at identical locations. I had expected a greater variety of nature sounds (other than the constant trickling and gurgling of water going over beaver dams), but it's autumn and that's generally a quiet time in my neck of the woods. I am nonetheless pleased and find the water sounds to be very soothing.

Brought out by a rain storm, toads and frogs call out as thunder continues to roll across the cypress and saw grass forest at the Big Cypress Preserve, part of the everglades near Miami, Florida. 00:05 Southern Toad, 00:11 Green Tree Frog, Spring Peeper frogs' birdlike chirp throughout, and 03:20 far off Red Shouldered Hawk. Recorded in XY Stereo with Audio Techinica BP4025 and MixPre-3, 40hz low cut and 57 Db gain. One continuous recording with EQ applied in post. May 2018.

This take is from the forest edge, facing the trees. Behind the trees are more trees, spruces and pines. Birches. Moss and berries. Sheep.
Everything is green, brown and grey.

To the left is more forest, as well as some farmlands and a vegetable garden. To the right is more forest, as well as more farmlands. Behind the microphones there is a valley with more farmlands, fields and more vegetable gardens, a few houses, some smallholdings, our smallholding, a rooster.
