As I was composing this piece, I read a report on Saudi-Palestinian prisoner Abu Zubaydah. He was captured  and severely injured by the CIA on March 28, 2002 along with thirty others who were suspected of being involved with Al-Qaeda (in 2006, the CIA conceded that Zubaydah was not a member of Al-Qaeda). After several years of being moved to various locations starting in Pakistan and ending up in Guantanamo Bay and continued torture in various forms, there still 
hasn't been a trial or a charge for him. Throughout his time, he has continually endured torture in the form of extensive water-boarding, being placed in sensory overload rooms to deprive him of sleep, daily beatings, solitary confinement and much more. The European Court of Human Rightsruled that the countries of Poland and Lithuania owe him 100,000 euros each for cooperating with the CIA in illegally detaining and tormenting him. This piece is dedicated to Abu Zubaydah and all victims of torture.  

An exploration on the dichotomy between brutal and gentle, savory and sweet, complex and simple, fleeting and everlasting, minuscule and significant, sensual and innocent, ostentatious and restrained. Extremes make the world go round. Eat pineapples on pizza!!!
