A bit of some great stuff

The Shallows was recorded December 7th, 2013 in a practice space in Allston, MA.  When the band and I got back from a mini-tour at the end of November, I took a couple days off to demo some new songs and then re-recorded them the following Saturday.  I really wanted to have a more cohesive feeling this time around by recording everything in one day.  After a week or so of listening to and mixing the songs in a few different places like my favorite restaurant, my car, walking around my neighborhood, at work and at home, I sent them over to be mastered.

This classic SWAY EP leads off with "Winter Heart", a beautiful epic number nestled perfectly into the space of just a few minutes. Side A closes out with "Days Are Long", which then leads to side B, kicking off with "Days (Reprise)", and wrapped up with "Base Audit". It's a perfect soundtrack for walking down your snow packed street, headphones on, but feeling warm all over. Likewise, it sounds just as perfect while kicked back on the deck of your boat with 95 degree sun beaming down on your smiling face.

Since early 2012, Miniatures have been crafting compelling and evocative tunes. New Zealand expatriates Ché Walden and Annemarie Duff craft cinematic and emotive soundscapes, wrapped around warm and welcoming songs. With the addition of Chris MacLean on bass, the band worked with renowned Melbourne producer Matthew Hosking to record their first full LP, exclusive to Saint Marie Records.

Layering rich tones, beautiful textures, cascading melodies and angelic vocals, Miniatures build soundscapes that rise and fall like the ocean tide.
