28th Street Crew – O (Hi-Lux Remix) Ministry Of Sound 1995

Ministry Of Sound were one of the Labels in the bidding war for the Hi-Lux produced ‘Ultra High – Stay With Me’ track, but after MCA was the label chosen to release it, Ministry were then very keen for Hi-Lux to remix for them if they weren't to sign the Ultra High track. At this stage, Ministry were very much known exclusively for a particular American House/Garage style and the new ‘Hi-Energy’ UK style tracks ripping through clubs up and down the country hadn’t been signed or remixed on any of their releases at that point so I’m very proud to have been involved in talks with MoS A&R and being involved.

28th Street Crew was a side project of legendary producers Clivilles & Cole (C&C Music Factory), ‘O’ was originally a 122 bpm fairly down tempo classy deep house even ‘tropical’ track… not after a 136 bpm Hi-Lux remix !!

I always wondered what C&C thought of the remix… I guess there’s a good chance they absolutely loathed it being such a different vibe… who knows, maybe they were secret hand-baggers !

Hi-Lux – Never Felt This Way (Horny Mix) Champion Records 1995

Never Felt This Way was the second single from Hi-Lux, this time released on Cheekys parent label Champion Records. After the success of the first single ‘Feel It’ and the subsequent remixes that Hi-Lux had done for Champion, this mix of the track was designed purely for the clubs rather than radio. Although two mixes were done, the ‘Happy Mix’ being provided to satisfy Champion with a mix to get a radio edit from, it was this ‘Horny Mix’ that I personally preferred. 

Even though Hi-Lux undeniably had a cross-over sound, the foundation of productions had always been club mixes, of all the tracks produced and remixed and the Radio Edits that followed, Hi-Lux never directly provided 3 minute Radio Edit mixes.

I’m only going to put this mix up of this track as this selection of uploads isn’t meant to be a comprehensive full catalogue as Hi-Lux usually provided 2 or 3 alternative versions of productions and remixes with different varying styles… commercial to hard house. This mix is an unashamed Hard House banger.
