After a long period, São Paulo's Luiz Pareto is back using his Coringa alias. This four tracker release (The Duck Has Swallowed The Frog EP) on his own Rebolado label features three deep house cuts and a breakbeat affair with some Detroit-ish melodies on top ("Mind Control"). The title track ("The Duck Has Swallowed The Frog") has a dreaming feel into it. "You, Smile" has some dramatic ingredients and a sexy voice to catch your attention. There's a lot of old school elements in the whole EP, but "Paying Ducks, Carrying Cans" goes further in that direction with its early 90's keys. A curiosity about the title of this track is that PAYING DUCKS (that literally means PAGANDO PATOS in Portuguese) is the wrong translation of the English expression CARRYING CANS. The title track is a provocation with Brazilians who voted for Bolsonaro and are now disappointed because the president is taking away their rights. Brazilians say these people are DUCKS WHO ARE SWALLOWING FROGS. Luiz Pareto's Coringa would like to dedicate this entire EP to them.
