On June 25th, 2017, we'll be celebrating our 250th party. To commemorate the occasion, we're releasing a mix and compilation by Mister founders and resident DJs Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin. It's called Mister Saturday Night, Then and Now.  

This is the lead track, a languid, joy-filled Ethiopian jazz song by the great Ethiopian vocalist, Menelik Wossenatchew. It was arranged and written by Mulatu Astatke. 

Mister Saturday Night, Then and Now is distributed by !K7 Records and available as a 3LP compilation and as a CD and on digital on Friday, June 30th.

Phenomenal Handclap Band is back on Toy Tonics with remixes by Superpitcher & Ray Mang! The New York indie disco crew delivers their third song to the Berlin dancefloor label. Their last 2 Toy Tonics singles, "Judge Not" and "Jail", have already made big waves with heavy rotations in the sets of people like DJ Harvey, Artwork, Gilles Peterson, Keinemusik and many others. Now they are back with another surefire smash: "Remain Silent".
The Phenomenal Handclap Band from New York has been known for a couple of funk-driven releases before, but also for supporting or collaborating with such giants as Bryan Ferry, Marcos Valle and Nile Rodgers & Chic.

As we lead into fall, we are bringing you a slice of our dear friend Mike Ravelli which we’ve been road testing and tuning for more than a year.   
Mike Ravelli is a master of moving crowds & driving them wild in clubs and undergrounds throughout Amsterdam & China. Grooving in the booth for almost 20 years, his enthusiasm speaks to his commitment that his music should build up a sweat. 

Mike Ravelli’s latest original mixes does so literally from the first beat; music and dancer, fall immediately into a symbiotic relationship from moment one.  Driving sounds through hardware and software, his music is familiar and fresh, comforting and confronting all at the same time and a vibe that seems to resonate on dance floors worldwide.  And each track seemingly lives in its own environment, inspired by a place where Mike has been before.

When listening to Nest you can imagine a conventional Amsterdam club, resident DJ grooving to the track and a dance floor of old friends. Britta Arnold brings a grittier powerful quality demanding the expenditure of a new energy from the dancefloor.

Sliggy reaches up from a Berlin underground where friends meet strangers who will never be strangers again.  The Pysh Remix takes the sound travelling and invites all to come with him; a lyrical journey with Sliggy’s original mix as the vehicle.

Prop fills an outdoor festival from the stage, across the crowd and to the sky with big arps and anthemic sounds that meander into space.  This calls out to the stars picking up dancers along the way as we have seen all over the globe when bringing the Prop.

Musical producer and percussionist G.Zamora has studied the most ancient African and Latin American rhythms for two decades which he now infuses into his releases.

Now relocated to Mallorca from Mexico, Spa In Disco bring us a track that'd work in deep house or disco sets alike, albeit we're definitely at the more experimental, synth-y end of either spectrum. 'Gatta' opens with a muted kick and hand percussion before introducing the throbbing, Italo-ish synth line that plays throughout, augmented by big bass vamps, trippy synth-strings and more frantic percussion work.

Copenhagen’s Nandu is a fast rising artist who imbues the idea of the smooth DJ transition into his new productions for Frankey and Sandrino's Sum Over History label.

After releasing his 3rd solo album One Man’s High Is Another Man’s Anxiety on Connected in the fall of 2018, and with a long line of cutting edge releases on labels such as Exit Strategy, Azzur, MoBlack and Rebirth, the always atmospheric Nandu brings plenty of new perspective to house and techno. As this new EP title suggests, 'Transitions' assembles various sounds, elements and ideas for three tracks that skip back and forth between various electronic sub-genres.

The fantastic opener unites deep soundscapes and a ravey, euphoric passage of synth work influenced by the 90s. Starting off with a bouncy bassline, a single key synth fills the high frequency space as an acid bleep brings more energy and helps the track surge into the future before finally bringing you back down again. It is truly a lesson in electronic ingenuity.

The same can be said of 'Stjerneskud', with a forward marching bass line, raw like a wooden plank, paired with melo-driven synth pads that slowly fade in and out. They make for a beautifully tasteful track that Nandu says is dedicated to his son.

Lastly, 'Found A Way' emphasises the soundscapes that 'Transition' and 'Stjerneskud' partly hinted at.

Built around multiple synth chords that create a mix of euphoria and sentimentally, Nandu implements vocoder-edited vocals before a big break, then the return of the synth-melody and the bass which carry you away.

From deep, dark and raw sounds to acid and euphoria, Nandu's three tracker offers a brief history of electronic music's many influences all smoothly blended into something new and fresh.
