Ben Long and Jamie Bissmire formed Space DJz  in 1995 with their 1st musical outing - On Manoeuvres in uncharted Territories   this was released on the sub label of Creation Records  called Infonet Recordings. The highlight of this EP was the seminal electro track Celestial Funk.

During the course of a 25 year career the DJz have put out over 60 Ep’s , 2  full length Album’s  3 mix Cd’s and over 40 remix’s featuring on labels such as Novamute , Soma , BEK Audio , PercTrax , Kombination Research , Driving Force , Beardman , Phobiq , Sinewave and many many others.

As the first Techno partnership to ever DJ on 4  turntable’s and 2 mixers spawning many a copycat act they have taken their sound across the globe , very few  countries have not witnessed the unique style ,  knowledge and musical attitude that only Ben Long & Jamie Bissmrie can deliver behind the decks and  on the dance floor . Touring Australia and Asia 9 times , South America , USA , Russia , Japan , New Zealand and countless of the big Festivals and Raves across the European circuit.

This weeks Real_Techno mix is from none other than the Space DJ'z Ben Long! He's given us a slammin' mix featuring Surgeon, Broom, Voorn, Sims, Garnier, Hood, Mills and many other luminaries of the global techno scene.
Honing his skills Ben’s debut appearance was alongside Bandulu and The Orb. It was Infonet that was to be the platform for The Space DJ’z first release ‘Loose Change’ then again when the duo’s seminal ‘Return to Earth’ Ben used his new found fame to set up his own record label Potential Recordingz.
Soon Ben’s production and remixing skills were in demand from such heavyweight techno labels as Primate, Tortured, Advanced, Audio, Potential has featured producers such as Umek, Ade Fenton and Chris McCormack, and the label releases the highest quality techno.
As dj’s, Ben Long and Jamie Bissmire have been performing individually, and as Space DJ’z for over 25 years, regularly playing at techno clubs across the world.

Ben Long -  Real  Techno Mix

Mauro Picotto is one of Italy’s most celebrated music exports. The legendary producer and DJ has  been responsible for some of electronic music’s most enduring anthems.

Mauro's journey to legendary status began over 25 years, 700 releases and 7 million unit sales ago when he became the first Italian finalist in the world DMC championships in 1988. As a DJ, Mauro he has performed the broadest possible range of peaktime sets, from Berlin’s famed Love Parade to Turin Winter Olympics via Timewarp, Tomorrowland, MTV Festival, Awakenings, Sensation, Mayday, Ultra Music Festival, Space Miami, Ibiza and thousands more.

Mauro expressed an early vision that is now common place within electronic music: his ability to bring the underground to the masses, to fuse melody, hooks and harmony with industrial strength drum dynamics, his innate understanding of widescreen DJ selections that cover the whole spectrum created a reputation that positioned him in all corners of techno.

He was the first DJ to mix live on the BBC TV show ‘Top Of The Pops’, and he’s helped bring techno to the widest audience possible. Also the man behind Meganite – one of Ibiza’s most successful and longest running nights – he has recruited some of the world’s most respected underground DJs as residents, including Adam Beyer, Marco Carola and Chris Liebing.

His forthcoming album, ‘From The 80s Til Now’ perfectly encapsulates the range of his production, from the Italo-electro bounce of Reignite, progressive atmospherics of the 2023 version of modern classic Ayala, to the crossover melodies and radio sheen of tracks like Restless and All Yours.

Celebrating 20 years of innovative sounds in 2023 is UK live act - SAYTEK. The prolific force in the realms of house and techno continues to deliver stellar sounds year after year, and in the blink of an eye 20 years have passed since his first ever live set. An exciting and colourful path has seen SAYTEK travel the world with his hardware, showcasing his sound in all corners of the globe from Montreal to Mumbai, the legendary terrace of Space Ibiza, London’s Fabric, Berlin’s famous Tresor, Awakenings and Mysteryland in Holland, to more obscure shows such as illegal warehouse parties in Helsinki. Whilst heavily touring he has also found the time to release 9 albums, and over 500 tracks (most recorded live) on heavyweight labels such as Soma, Fabric, TRAX, R&S, Bedrock, KMS, Superfreq and most recently Carl Cox and Christopher Coe’s Awesome Soundwave, and was described by Cox himself as a “genius” at playing live. 

Another sign of this would be his anticipated live stream jams which have racked up tens of millions of views over the years. This success certainly did not happen overnight, tirelessly developing and evolving his sound, starting out with frequent appearances at illegal parties in London, with the first legitimate gig landing at The End’s sister club AKA on a Tuesday night, a far cry from the multi thousand capacity stages you might find synonymous with SAYTEK in recent times. Throughout the years his raw talent has earnt him some serious love from the press including Mixmag and DJ Mag. 

Outside of music real name, Joseph Keevill, has overcome his own personal battles which only adds to the fantastic character he is. For many years he was combating his mental health and addiction, overcoming this and allowing the music to fully take over, and alongside all of this he is proudly neurodivergent.

A successful career in electronic music spanning over multiple decades is no easy feat. Times organically change but SAYTEK’s burning desire and ambition as a live performer has remained the same since the very first day, and long may that continue. An inspiration for old and new with a sincere drive at the heart of everything he does.

Italian hard techno DJ and producer MAIKE DEPAS (Michelangelo De Pasquale) is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting talents coming out of Italy. Drawing from a decade of experience and a sound that merges 90s rave, hard techno, and psy-trance, Depas has redefined his artistic vision in 2024, earning recognition from DJ Mag Italia, Mixmag Germany, and FAZE as a rising star in the global scene.  

A real talent, classically trained as a musician, studying composition and piano at the Milan Conservatory, Depas blends technical precision with raw, boundary-pushing energy. His recent audio-visual relaunch has brought his dystopian aesthetic to life, highlighted by a live set at Berlin’s Teufelsberg, shooting with cyberpunk designer Demobaza, and collaborating with the likes of Amstra, Mattia Trani, and Matasism. In the past year, Depas has released a series of EPs under Mattia Trani’s Pushmaster Discs, including ‘Tokyo Nights’ and the most recent ‘Circle of Life’, which dropped Oct. 11. These innovations culminate in his forthcoming EP ‘Sexy Devil Horse’, releasing Dec. 12 on his own label, The Innovation Studio Records.  

His 10-track collection showcases collaborations with iconic artists like Luca Agnelli, OGUZ, and Michael Katana, as well as rising stars CHRS and Gianni Di Bernardo. With the momentum of 2024 under his wings, ‘Sexy Devil Horse’ marks a defining moment in Depas’ career and solidifies his place among the new generation of hard techno visionaries.
