Համազգային աղոթքի վերածված այս երգի հեղինակը պատահական մարդ չէր, որ հայտնվեց, ընդամենը գրեց այս երգը և գնաց:
Գևորգ Հակոբյան անուն-ազգանունը քչերը գիտեն, փոխարեն աշխարհում չկա գեթ մեկ հայ, որ չիմանա նրա նշանավոր երգի այս տողերը` «Քելե, լաո, քելե էրթանք մըր էրգիր, Էրթանք ըն ձոր, քաղենք մատղաշ խավրծիլ, Քաղինք, քաղինք, էնինք մըզի ճար ու դեղ, Քելե, լաո, քելե էրթանք մըր էրգիր»: 
Գևորգ Հակոբյանը ծնվել է Թալինի շրջանի Վերին Սասնաշեն գյուղում Մուշ-Սասուն աշխարհից բռնագաղթված տարագիրների ընտանիքում: Ծնողների և համագյուղացիների կարոտն ու մորմոքը սրտում Գևորգի հայրենաբաղձության զգացումները և նա իրեն նվիրում է նրանց հոգու գանձերը գուրգուրելու և սերունդներին փոխանցելու գործին: 
Գևորգ Հակոբյանը սկսում է ստեղծագործել, գրում է երգեր ու բանաստեղծություններ: Դրանցում անհատական ու համազգային ապրումներն այնքան են միաձույլ, որ թվում է, թե ինքը ժողովուրդն է ստեղծել այդ ստեղծագործությունները: Բանահյուսական խոսքի ու մեղեդու տարերքն այնքան բնական ու հարազատ էր նրան, որ նույնիսկ այդ երգերի հեղինակային պահանջ չէր ներկայացնում: Առանձնահատուկ ջանասիրությամբ զբաղվում է մանուկների դաստիարակությամբ, ստեղծում է «Ծովասար» մանկական երգչախումբը` նրանց սրտերում վառելով հայրենասիրության կրակ, հայ երգը գիտակցաբար ընկալելու և վերարտադրելու մշակույթ: «Քելե լաոն» 88-ի թեժ օրերին նոր կյանք առավ, հնչեց Ազատության հրապարակում, ծավալվեց, գնաց ու հասավ մինչև Արցախ, փոթորկեց զենք բռնած հայորդիների սրտերը, դարձավ ազատամարտ ու մեծ հաղթանակ: 
 Գևորգ Հակոբյանն իր ստեղծագործությամբ և հատկապես այդ ստեղծագործության թագն ու պսակը կազմող «Քելե լաո»-ով կարևոր դասեր է հղում մեզ` երբեք տուրք չտալ սեփական զգացողությունների գայթակղությանը, լինել այնպես բնական, ազնիվ ու պարզ, ինչպես ժողովուրդը, և ժողովուրդն անմիջապես կգնահատի դա և կհամարի իրենը: 
Այդ ազնվագույն մարդը վաստակել է հիշվելու և մեծարվելու պատվին: Հիշենք այդ նվիրական անունը` Գևորգ Հակոբյան:
