A Charleston Ballet will suffice

When tubas made of yuba
Woodwind and strings
Are playing some of our favorite things
(Please dont complain

For the first dance I shall take the hand
Of the one who never loved me

In a wedding dress fit for a princess
But made by a crone

For the last dance I shall take the hand
Of the only one who loved me and say
This is where I stand
With morals and principles
Percentages and decimals and a swig
I mean a sip

Everyday a little more decays

A strange crowd to say the least

But something always comes up, I wake and find I'm still here

That's ok, all is fine
It's good to have a friend on the end of the line
It's a comfort to know that when I put down the phone
I'm not too far from home
When we meet at the end of the road

Cos its a local town for local people
Who speak the truth and hear no evil
All our needs are met

Thinking back to when I was younger
The places I missed
A life that was fuller
I guess we've all got regrets

But that's ok
All is well
They've got karaoke tonight down at The Bell
Its a comfort to know there's still somewhere to go
When your tired and feeling old

So I dance in the show and
The music carries me

A house by the sea and the desert at night
Cry for the clouds and the memory of flight
Basketball hoops and spaceships above
Home is a place so far away from here

Playing cards with the devil
Farewell the English rose
Sleep with the burning thistle

Your ashes we'll scatter
On the seeds of your sons
