Third extract taken from Tal Fussman's forthcoming debut full-length on the newly formed Survival Tactics, 'Move Your Hips' does exactly what's written on the tin.

Slicing off a jazzed-out belter of a tune, Fussman pulls out a force-field of FX-drenched hard-bop Rhodes, altered robotic vox and purebred Chicagoan shuffle to subjugate everything and everyone in its wake. Masterly hugging the bend between an avalanche of mad-hatter electro-acoustic chords tumbling and jolting in falsely chaotic style - think an AI-powered big band gone wild, and a retro-futuristic house churn that packs a serious punch, the Israeli-born, Berlin-based producer swings the pendulum with strapping impact throughout. A buoyant piece of roaring twenties-laced athletics for the now and tomorrows, which will satisfyingly quench some of the thirst for new Fussman material, en route to the big drop later this year.

The Toy Tonics army makes its debut this week on SOULMEEX PRO with his "Italianissimo" Sam Ruffillo.

The man behind the highly acclaimed Danza Organica, recently explained on an Instagram post his long path to success: twenty years making beats and arranging music with different aliases, around eight or nine different artistic projects, remix contests won and hard work plus consistency as the key of everything.

His music is very special indeed and we’re still trying to make up our mind if it is Italian disco, funky house, balearic…Or maybe all together at the same time.

What we know for sure is that we’re in front of a present and future star of electronic music.

That’s the reason why he’s caught the attention of many big names in the business, his gigs are increasing week by week and he’s been remixed already by the likes of Musumeci, Art of Tones or Eli Escobar. That, with just a few EPs released in Toy Tonics, Jakarta or Irma Records among others.

While we carefully observe his next steps in the wonderful world of electronic music, it’s time to have a ball with his SOULMEEX PRO 003.

Since its debut in 2017, Damian Lazarus’ annual ‘SPIRITS’ series on Crosstown Rebels has been a beacon for breakthrough artists, setting the label’s agenda for the year ahead. The sixth instalment in February is another meticulously curated lineup with ‘SPIRITS VI’ featuring a blend of new and recognisable talents, including Lauren Lane, Cristina Lazic, Iñigo Vontier, AJ Christou and many more.

London-based talent Cameron Jack kicks off what looks set to be a breakout year with ‘The Vision’, a bubbly and tropical cut with cosmic synths and loose, jumbled rhythms. Chris Bowl then brings his emotional style to the deep, rolling beats and fresh melodies of ‘Silent Plain’, while NY-born, LA-based house tastemaker Lauren Lane layers in smoky pads and tender whispers to her sublime deep house cut, ‘Fair Game.’ Next, German talent and Degree Records head Marc Lenz brings darker vibes to his track ‘People Are People’, while Rebellion artist Cristina Lazic and previous Lazarus collaborator Leia Contois combine for the alluring vocal soul and gritty minimal drums of ‘So Deep’.

Mexican Iñigo Vontier is a pioneer in his homeland after crafting a global reputation, and his twisted synths, shiny textures and steely drums on ‘That Trippy Sound’ prove why as they work you into a trance. Next is influential Manchester-based DJ/producer AJ Christou, who has released on the likes of Hot Creations and Cuttin’ Headz. His track ‘Back & Forth’ brings an infectious groove with plenty of flair and catchy drum funk, before TMPLE shuts things down with the deft, airy grooves and floating bass of ‘The Girl In The Room’, complete with its tender male vocals.

At the forefront of electronic innovation, Crosstown Rebels stands as a pivotal platform and record label, reflecting the genre’s diversity and housing an impressive roster that includes renowned artists and household names like Art Department, Maceo Plex, and Jamie Jones. With sub-labels Rebellion and Secret Teachings in tow, the imprint consistently and continuously expands its musical canvas, creating an immersive landscape for leading and emerging talents to thrive.

'The Isolation Tapes came together accidentally during lockdown. Getting lost in the music-making process was our way to escape the feelings of anxiety and uncertainty which presented themselves with the emergence of Covid. We had no plan beyond escapism, but a cleared schedule gave us lots of time to explore new ideas.
