Coach & Ref is the collaborative project of longtime studio partners @Bleutopia and Daple. What started out as two artist/songwriters experimenting with recording techniques and equipment (especially vintage synths) in the studio, soon became a serious passion with a desire to share their love of artier micro-genres.

Channeling visions of retro-futurism with a potent fusion of indie and pop, the duo creates nostalgic soundscapes and lo-fi tones that seamlessly dovetail overt melodicism and bangin’ beats, with a mischievous grin that shines through it all.

Their second single #Decisions is out now and features Mike Taylor on vocals. Sharing an insight to the track, @iammiketaylor states:

“Decisions is a song that answers a question people ask me all the time “Why are you so damn happy” and the answer for me is, “I choose to be so damn happy”. It’s as simple as that. Of course, no human can be in a great mood all the time but I think happiness is more than an emotion, I think it’s something deeper than that.  I choose to go through life focusing on the positive. It’s not an easy thing to do but it forces me to identify and articulate internally what happiness is and if it's even possible for me to achieve it. Once I was able to define what happiness was for me it made it so much easier to love others and to be loved by others. So when I say “I made the decision to be happy…” what I am really saying is that I decided to go on a quest to find it.”

Bleu is a celebrated artist, award-winning songwriter and producer, having penned Platinum and Gold tracks for Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Jonas Brothers. A Berklee grad, Bleu has been signed to Columbia Records and featured on the multi-platinum soundtrack to Spider-Man. He has spent time touring with the likes of John Mayer, Train and Japanese pop band Puffi Ami Yumi and worked directly with showrunner Allan Heinberg (The Catch, Wonder Woman, Grey's Anatomy), Wes Craven, ABC Studios, and most recently with director Steve Loter for Disney's Legend of The Neverbeast, where Bleu wrote and produced all the songs in the film, including a featured duet with KT Tunstall and working alongside Joel McNeely on the film's score. Bleu is currently featured in a world-wide eBay ad with his song "Love You So."

Daple is a songwriter, producer, and composer. An Eastman School of Music graduate who has created original music and scores that can be heard in such films as ‘Friends with Benefits,’ ‘Easy A,’ ‘Vampire Diaries,’ MTV’s hit show ‘Buckwild,’ and most recently “Never Hike Alone.” As a songwriter/producer Daple has worked with Iggy Azalea, Atlas Genius, Samantha J, and many others.

 ‘Satisfied’ is a slice of sophisticated dance music that nails the sweet spot between headphones and dancefloor. It sees Catching Flies focusing his attention on the dancefloor for the first time with stunning results – ‘Satisfied’ is highly textured, deeply melodic and effortlessly marries live instrumentation (guitars, harps, a string quartet…) with warm electronics. The single consists of a three-track package, including a more immediate Edit and an ‘Ambient Reprise’ which serves as a hazy recollection of the night before. As Catching Flies explains: ‘the tune has so many different layers and tracks (186 to be precise!) and went through various different versions over time… so I wanted to celebrate that.’
