From the rich piano chords and ever-silky drum grooves through to the vibrant synth leads and alluring vocals at the heart of the production, the expertly crafted ‘Desire’ is another exploration of the ever-expanding Stussy sound as he continues to showcase precisely why he’s an artist in unprecedented global demand.

Fresh off a BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record feature with his 2024 ‘Take Me Away’, Lewis Taylor has been a core part of the Trick family, appearing on the label’s 2023 ‘Lethal Bangers Vol. 1’ V/A and lineups at festivals such as Creamfields and WeAreFestvl. The Newcastle talent now returns with his debut solo EP on Topping’s imprint, ‘Kickin’ In The Beat’.

“Both tracks perfectly represent where want to take my sound going forward. I am heavily inspired by 90s house and love that a lot of producers and labels have brought that sound back to the forefront of dance music in recent years. Trick has been a key player in doing this, so I am honoured to have it as a platform to share these two tracks with the world!” - Lewis Taylor.

Up first is the vibrant 'Kickin’ In The Beat', a high speed and compelling garage-house groove with shuffling drums and bouncing bass. The clipped vocal loops provide that irresistible hook with a 90s feel, erupting into a top line that is destined to do damage. 'Shake It Up' is another immediately catchy groove with tight, dusty drums and punchy low end. Beyond the physical appeal, a retro bassline and subtle garage skip all help elevate it to the next level.

After two acclaimed releases on Up The Stuss, ‘Sense Of Future’ in 2023 and ‘Synergy’ in 2024, Across Boundaries, the collaborative project of Chris Stussy and Locklead, return with their most expansive and fully realised statement to date. Set for release on 5th September 2025, ‘Sakura’ brings an eight-track, double vinyl package oﬀering a deep dive into the duo’s evolving partnership, showcasing a sound that is as intricate and emotive as it is dancefloor-focused.

The making of the EP reflects an organic approach, with the pair taking to the Dutch wilderness for a series of weekend-long studio retreats, temporarily transforming remote natural spaces into creative sanctuaries. These escapes, surrounded by forests and wildlife, allowed the pair to step away from traditional studio environments and reconnect with the pure essence of their music. This intentional isolation sparked fresh ideas and textures, infusing the project with an expansive and reflective atmosphere - one that captures the contrast of raw nature and the precise electronic craftsmanship to capture crowds.

Musically, the eight-tracker moves fluidly between moods and rhythms, reflecting the layered creative process behind it. The title track ‘Sakura’ opens with a hypnotic groove that blooms into a textured soundscape, while 'The Funktion' rides tight, infectious, and tunnelling energy. Deeper cuts like ‘A Love Letter…’ reveal a hazy, introspective side, contrasting with the elevating energy of ‘Da Resurrection’. The EP’s range demonstrates Across Boundaries’ growing confidence in exploring diverse facets of house music, blending melody, groove, and atmosphere into a seamless journey.

This release not only marks their largest project under the Across Boundaries moniker, but also signals the maturation of a longtime musical and personal bond between its members. Longtime friends, Chris and Locklead’s collaborative process has evolved into an intuitive dialogue, where ideas flow freely and the boundaries of their sound continue to expand. This latest project is the latest chapter in this ongoing exploration; a cohesive, complete body of work that reflects their shared vision and commitment to pushing house music forward.

Road tested on the world’s biggest stages and at the most notorious parties, title track Be Sharp Say Nowt encapsulates Patrick’s signature sound and has proven to be his biggest track of the year. “The gospel vocal from LaShun Pace is amazing!” says Patrick, “I'm so happy to have it finally come out on Hot Creations”. On the flip, Track Change offers a contrast and a slightly different side to Patrick’s sound.

Spearheading the new wave of electronic music producers coming from the North of England, Patrick Topping has made a name as a prolific producer, securing seven different Beatport number 1s since his debut release in 2013. His accolades also count two DJ Awards for Best Newcomer and Track Of The Season for Forget, as well as DJ Mag’s Best Tune in their Best of British Awards. Last year he rounded things off with his first DJ mix album, Paradise On Earth vol 1, which received Mixmag’s Compilation of The Month and 10/10 from Germany’s Faze Mag, as well as reaching number 1 in Beatport’s House chart.
