Lily Ackerman’s mix for arch guides the listener through a wide range of human emotions, starting with a quiet and pleasantly naive intro before a dark and dramatic mid-section takes hold. Relief arrives with a fantasy journey through a jungle-like natural landscape, evoking an extravagant and euphoric state. 

The mix concludes with the calming sounds of everyday human life and nature, in the form of three field recordings, from places that hold meaning to Lily: Berlin, her current home, Vietnam, where her mother was born, and San Francisco, the last American city she lived in.

~ exploring 3/2 polymeter mixing for dance practice, a biweekly dancefloor meditation at LSD in greenpoint, bk ~ ^^

the evening began with a guided movement meditation by selena lee, which i followed with this 90-min percussion workout. selena's instruction helped everyone body-scan and ground themselves, settle into the space, and greet their neighbors. with everyone so dialed into their bodies and the sound, i felt free to explore a litany of trax i have been collecting that hover between tuplet and triplet meters, creating a hybrid rhythmic space where you are free to follow multiple equally present tempos and pulses. special thanks to everyone who shared their favorite triplet trax with me ahead of the night ^^ selections from doula, plushie, lucia beyond, iha, and baalti are included here :)
