Downtento @ The Living Room (29-04-23)

The introduction of the track is composed of spacious synths, with the reverberation of light drumming to punctuate the unfolding soundscape. It quickly evolves to highlight the somber depth of tone delivered by the vocalist. The emerging bassline reveals a stark contrast to the vocalist's eerie and laced lyrics of conformance and obedience, while the natural drums provide the rhythm that carries the track. 

The middle of the song brings a calm breakdown, settling the listener down before the kick drum and bassline provide the climactic centerpiece. A downward progression leads into a slow fade - the looming undertone to match the daunting question posed by the lyrics.

The Reckoning (Vocal Edit) ft Georgia Carter

The second collaboration between long time friends: Whispers from the Sea draws on the vibe of their previous release 'Headrush' on Suid Tronica, builds on that flow with moody chords, an exciting bassline and beautiful vocals.

This release has some Harry Charles inspired synths, piano and guitar driven breakdowns with a hard hitting Downtempo climax. The vocals infer a struggle between city life and leaving everything behind for a love affair with the sea.

After 2 choruses and their accompanying breakdowns, the song fades into a mellow outro where the narrative implies settling down, wherever that could be.

Standing In A Field Of Control

"My debut release is a 3 track EP with remixes from my good friends and two of the most unique and forward thinking local artists I can think of at the moment."

Matt brings a technical, driving and hypnotic techno style track, with his style applied to the more peak time oriented original. He executes his remix with a lengthy, meticulous outlook that will captivate the listener while definitely testing the sub frequencies of the system it's played on.

Hydro's remix speaks volumes for his "fuck the establishment" manner of thinking, but in no way deviates from the focus of dance music. Interesting, strange and unique sounds fill the perfectly balanced mix, which has a sonic scope wider than you would expect in run-of-the-mill techno. Tight percussion and tuning of the drums add to the theme of this early morning mind bender.

The original is a dancefloor orientated showcase of organic and artificial sounds, marrying acoustic drums and analouge basses and synths. Offbeat, syncopated basses deviate from the fairly structured arrangement, leading to a triplet led 3rd phase of the track, only to be led back in to a stripped down 4x4 structure to finish it off.

The release will be available on Triplefire Music on the 24th of November 2017 exclusively from Beatport.

4 weeks later it will be available on all popular download stores and streaming services.

Recorded at 2am, on the first night of boogy after the protests created some doubt about being able to even attend. Everyone was full of gratitude and generosity, and okes were keen to JOL! I thought the deck was going to collapse when I played "Sleepless". 

What a party this boogy was, a dream really. Thanks Royston, Seb @ Karen for the best party I've ever been to!

Pretty much the entire scope of techno I love playing the most, was really nice to have such a wide range to be able to play.
