Recorded in studio in Nashville, Fly on Faith is a debut single for artist and songwriter Lukelle. This track was co-written with artist and songwriter HoB. Lukelle has been in the trenches of our mental health system for more than a decade, working in psychiatric hospitals and her own practice to pull adults and children through their darkest times. Now singer-songwriter Lukelle, known to her clients and friends as Dr. Katie Fetzer, is encouraging others to “fly on faith,” as her debut single teaches. “Being up close and personal with the darkness of this world forced me to get real about the meaning and finality of life, and my role in it” she explains. “My training as a mental health professional and my own spiritual journey helped me discover the purpose in pain, and taught me how to accept struggle and look at it truthfully and objectively. I approach my songwriting in the same way, hoping to give honest testimony to how music can be a powerful voice of reason and hope.” Lukelle weaves together her psychological wisdoms, experiences as a healer and even her own personal struggles to craft words and melodies that break the barriers of superficiality and pierce right into your heart and soul. Higher Harmony is a song about divine love & providence. It speaks truth about what life is like apart from love…empty & broken, flat, incongruent, incomplete, dissonant…out of sync.
In my own life journey and role as a mental health professional, I've seen and experienced more human suffering than many experience in a lifetime. Music was always there for me. It is an otherworldly force that has the power to change perception in a way that normal conversation can’t. I hope this song points people towards finding love in a higher hope {and harmony}, the way it did for me.

We are often tempted to buy into fear’s tactics. But even in the face of trembling fear and doubt, we have free will. We have choice. Choice to slow down, or speed up. Choice to judge, or not judge. Even if you think all you have is breath…Choice to breathe slow, or fast. We are better off if we choose to believe the prevailing power of Love and its victory ending. Love will triumph. I Will Win This War With Love

In the mid to late 70’s, my dad and uncle wrote a song that would later impact my life and songwriting journey in significant ways. I grew up hearing various versions of the song. I watched as my family grieved the loss of my uncle, and later as my dad rewrote the lyrics for this special song they shared. I watched as the song made its way to Nashville, garnering interest of industry pros like Mac Gayden (a long time family friend and songwriter of “everlasting love” and many other wonderful songs, played and recorded with JJ Cale, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Kris Kristofferson, and many more). I watched as it was showcased by a young artist at 3rd and Lindsley’s, among a small special crowd, including Norbert Putnam (producer for Dan Fogelberg and bass guitarist with Elvis Presley). I watched as it almost made its way in a Netflix placement. The little researcher and music lover in me watched and learned, having no idea God was molding me into a songwriter. I appreciated these moments more than ever, as it showed me again and again: the higher purpose of music rests in souls not stardom. Then I became a songwriter. My dad gave me his blessing to re-write this deeply meaningful song and make it my own. My dad and uncle wrote it on guitar. I moved it over to piano and modified some lyrics, but kept it as close to the original version as possible. This timeless song still holds meaning, maybe even more now than ever. Meaning behind Music: More often than we realize, our minds are held captive to deceit. Our perceptions are shaped insidiously over time by our experiences and inputs. We are subtly lured by partial truths, pulling us away from what is pure, real, and true. Before we know it, we build inauthentic lives on a bed of lies. Then we reach for convenient comforts to heal our unfulfillment. Consumerism, materialism, fame, superficiality—all wrapped in shiny packages to consume us whole and eat up our souls until we feel empty inside. We stay clung to the fleeting and finite; spellbound and earthbound. How do we shake it? How do we stay anchored and bound to what is True no matter how strongly the tide pulls us? This song invites us into a surrender to higher Truth, and away from the noise of the world that’s competing with our soul and its destiny.
