Mix 45 - Beauty In Patterns Vol. II

The five-track album kicks off with ‘I Don’t Need It (ft. Casey Russell)’. An ultra-funky 70’s sounding bass line gets things grooving immediately. Funky clavinet and guitars support Russell’s (from the Magic Beans) catchy keyboard riff. Up next the title track ‘Feel So Strong’ is a boogie jam displaying Luke’s rhythm and lead guitar stylings interplaying with retro-tinged vocal chops. Vinyl crackles cue up ‘Lose My Mind’. Jazzy flute, slap funk bass, and synths all combine for a powerful drop. ‘Let’s Just Groove’ ​veers into disco-house territory with Studio 54 violin runs, and a rubbery bass line. The final track ‘Amsterdam’ is a veritable kitchen sink of sound with warm stand-up bass supporting dusty piano, harp arpeggios, analog synth in a lo-fi house mood.

My remix of Jungle's song Drops. The original song is beautiful but doesn't have much of a beat or bassline. I gave it mixable intro and outro, added a thicker beat and bassline, and did some re-arranging. It's kind of a Bon Iver meets Thievery Corporation joint.

Mix 51 - Colors Moving

The loss of my musical brother Chuck Morris and his son Charley has been absolutely heartbreaking. We spent over two decades traveling the world together playing music. I was there when Chuck and Jenny brought the newly-born Charley home from the hospital. Chuck was probably the most unique person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He always did things in his own one-of-a-kind way. I'm processing this enormous loss in the only way I know how, by making music. This mix reflects some of the tip of the iceberg that was Chuck's joyous personality - smooth, quirky, driving, enigmatic, beautiful.

Starting off on the funkier side of things Joey gave a jazzy bent over the disco leaning sound. Will filled out the groove with some thick congas and a variety of bells and shakers. Some space disco vibes took over the middle portion of the show. Then slowly morphing into the more Tech-House side of things to finish off with high energy.
