This song is about how modernity for the privileged often entails being far away from people that are very dear to you heart and how music and love can help fill the void of their absence.

I wrote this song for my newborn son, Arroyo Rune McCarthy. Having a child during this moment in history on our earth is a daunting task to say the least. We are facing many dilemmas as a species. Climate change, destruction of wild places at an unprecedented rate, systemic racism, and now a global pandemic that is changing the fabric of our daily lives. Beyond these external issues, one of the greater and more subtle challenges is conquering oneself. This song is about both having hope for the world through the children we raise and for our own character, as we learn to be the best versions of ourselves so that we can better serve the world, which is desperately in need.

Oh, My Child

This song attempts to capture what is lost between childhood and adulthood. Our birthright gifts, our deep connection to our mothers, the earth, and ourselves. It also is meant to embody the true spirit of love, when you see the inner child of someone else and all you want is for them to feel joy in their life.

This song is about an eco-sexual confluence, the divine power of falling in love with a woman rooted in all things wild.

I wrote this song about a girl that I met in a college class who then came to the first show my band ever played. I obviously had a huge crush on her.

I wrote this song about my Grandpa, Charles Wilbur Allred. He taught me so many things and this song is full of many of the quotes and sayings he would preach to all his grandchildren. Thanks for everything, Grandpa.

Please Forgive Me

I wrote this song as part of my cathartic process of letting go of someone I love and how this letting go was symbolized by a trip to the desert with a friend. The struggle of love, the joy and the suffering. The "inside job" refers to the work each and every one of us has to do to become the best version of ourselves. It's about how love is a firewalk, a crucible or emotions, a dangerous yet rewarding dance.
