JIN05 enters the winter season with a funky warmth from synthesizer specialist Romain FX. Based in Lyon, raised in Taiwan and Hong Kong, Romain is a true multi-culturist. Growing up only speaking Mandarin in Taipei, then got in touch with keyboard at legendary Shaw Studio in Hong Kong at age of 16. A1 "結合 Jiéhé" ( in English means Combine) and B1 Flagada both showcases Romain's technical skills on boards and also his playful jam session disco vibe.   

Remixes come in 2 opposite forms:On A2 Zurich's Ozelot Records head honcho Manuel Fischer surprisingly delivers with an experimental approach, turning Jiéhé to a moody, dub funk.  Choppy kicks and woozy atmosphere makes this a late night dance floor favourite cut. Then Telephones finishes up the EP on B2 with a total, 90's peak time euphoric bomb, transforming "Flagada" into a pumping feel good vibe that is a must get weapon for all house heads and  ravers alike.

'A re-issue of this timeless italo ballad produced by Italian percussionist Massimo Pacciani. The song was recorded in 1984 in Marzio Bennelli’s studio in Florence with an Oberheim OB-X, Yamaha DX7, Marzio on guitar and the great vocals of Riccardo Galardini. They took inspiration from Flashdancers – Maniac (an italo cover of Michael Sembello’s ‘Maniac’) which they recorded the same day in Bennelli’s studio. Remastered from original master tapes.'

Premiere: GizA Djs, Rafael Cerato - Feel The Love [True Romance]

Milano-based producer Eluard graces Slow Motion Records once again with his debut album ‘Dirty Hall’. A release filled with his distinctively nostalgic tone, blending West Coast synth funk and Italo Disco with appropriate, seamless grit. 

‘Dirty Hall’ opens with ‘Die Erste Musik’,  a chiming track with a wide, captivating vocal sampler riff that delicately dances off fizzing percussion. Creamy, glistening chords sit beautifully within this arrangement effortlessly complementing the bassline. This approach is taken a step further in the following ‘Carlo E Daria’, with an instantly attention-grabbing swirling synth motif.  

‘Dirty Hall’ shows the breadth of Eluard's innate talent for harnessing the best out of the analogue machine, creating a rich sonic palette that never fails to warm the ears. The thundering lows of ‘Comic Bad’ are met with a mind-bending augmented synth line and a beautifully enigmatic vocal riff. 

Eluard’s sound design throughout this LP masterfully pushes the retro into the present realm, retaining the characterful intrigue of the instruments recorded. Intelligently placed harmonies in ‘Dancers Are Thin And Pretty’ and ‘Funny Jasmine’ help to raise the instrumental sequences, allowing the listener to be transported to a more reflective, existential space. 

The slick flare of elegant floor filler ‘Phonemes’ solidifies Eluard as a visionary within the Italian Dance Wave Movement, layering distinguished instrumentals with perfectly placed melodics.

‘Dirty Hall’ eloquently concludes with the sophisticated sleaze of ‘In The Next Room’. A masterful nod to the golden era of the vocoder with a stomping, percussive groove and a cleansing chordal sequence. ‘Dirty Hall’ is an LP charged with a mind-bending evocation instilling Eluard as a forward-thinking force within the sonic sphere.

Dream Hack is a new side project from the Sheffield based producer Randolph & Mortimer. A new alias created as a tribute to the electronic dance music of the mid 90s, a period in time when a new style of underground dance music was pushing through with bands like Underworld, Fluke, Drum Club and Eat Static leading the charge. These artists were blending everything from Techno to Trance, Acid to Ambient vibes and that’s what this new alias is all about, just having fun experimenting and mixing up the genres
The idea behind White Heat / Acid City was to create a piece of work that felt like a live show, constantly shifting between styles and vibes, tempos and instrumentation. Comprised of three tracks this release is very much inspired by the old skool ethos of writing long, evolving tracks. Whilst the influences are very much a nod back to a classic time in the beginnings of dance music there are still modern twists in it’s creation to keep it feeling fresh. Switching between Techno, Ambient, Trance and Dub influences, it’s dance music but created by a producer whose musical DNA is as much based in hardcore and alternative guitar music as it is electronic music so it’s about songs as well dancelfoor weapons. An album that works being listened to in a darkened room or driving around cities late at night as much as it works in the clubs.
It’s time to jack in.
