Russian Circles - Memorial

A piece that started and finished as an improvisation, with some composition in the middle of that. Scored for male choir (well, many tracks of me using Garage Band). Part of a series of studies for me to figure out "how would I write this or that?".  This is part of a few ideas I had recently that involve weird sounds, microtonal tunings and just intonation (near the end).

Vocal Experiment #1-2014

A classical-jazz hybrid piece for electric bass and chamber ensemble. Many tracks on three different machines.  It was started, in 2000, on my 238 cassette 8-track with the main backing tracks, mostly on keys.  I did a rough mix and then that machine died.  So, I put the mix on my new Fostex 8-track (2002) and overdubbed most of the other live parts... and then that machine died.  I took that rough mix and put it into garage band to put the sub-mixes together (2012).

I'm playing: bass, rhodes, sampler, guitar, 3 flutes, clarinet, tenor recorder, tremollo and chromatic harmonica, orchestra bells, 8 violins, 4 violas, 4 cellos - and a tremolo choir made of 12 tracks of various chordophones playing the tremollo line.
