Dimitra has three daughters who light up her world. And she makes sure not only to guard their dreams, but to remind them every day to laugh and not be scared to make mistakes, and that they are the ones who guide their lives. Together with Pavlina Konstantopoulou, she wrote this lullaby – a musical refuge for difficult times – inspired by her grandmother’s sweet lullabies and the innocence of her children. She may not be her daughters’ biological mother, but for her it’s not how you build your family that matters, but that you actually want to build one. And she made it.

Thekla is the mother of two boys, who have gifted her with the most important role of her life. She herself was never able to hear her mother’s voice lulling her to sleep, but her own children can hear hers and the lullaby she has written for them, with Eleonora Roussou. Nothing is impossible, no matter how unprecedented, when there is motherly love and that special footprint that children leave on one’s soul. Thekla shows her boys the world, teaching them to appreciate diversity, have values, and always be honest.

Joy is the mother of a little girl and together with Cemre Arca they wrote a beautiful lullaby for her. A lullaby that shows the love Joy has for her child and her hopes and dreams for the future. She wants her baby to grow and go places, become great and reach for the stars. Even though it was difficult bringing her daughter into this world, Joy’s faith gave her the strength she needed, and now the little girl is Joy’s treasure, the person who brought all the beauty in her world. Through this lullaby, her daughter will know that she will forever be loved and appreciated.

"Excel Baby" by Joy and Cemre

Yiola is the mother of two boys, Alexandros and Orestis. She’s a mother who has been fighting from early on for her children’s rights. Raising two children, one of whom is disabled, she learned to balance between obstacles and joys, victories and disappointments. Together with Anastasia Demetriadou, she wrote a special lullaby for her boys. The message she would like to send to other parents through her song, is to always be there for their children, never stop fighting for justice, no matter how many obstacles they have to face. And as she points out, this lullaby has special qualities; the moment a mother lulls her children is unique and personal, and a lullaby of their own makes their bond even stronger and more special.

"Dipla Sas" by Yiola and Anastasia

The Lullaby Project is a program that is carried out by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI) that pairs pregnant women and new mothers and fathers with professional artists to write personal lullabies for their babies. The participants are offered a creative opportunity to communicate feelings, hopes, and dreams as they look to the future with their child. The Lullaby Project supports maternal health, aids childhood development, and strengthens the bond between parent and child. 

The Lullaby Project was brought to Cyprus through the collaboration of Sistema Cyprus with the Carnegie Hall. 
Sistema Cyprus is a social-music orchestra and choir program established in 2018. Sistema Cyprus offers music education to the children and young people of Cyprus, including migrants, refugees and children and young people with fewer opportunities, and ensures that these groups are respected, recognised, and included in the society.
