An oscilloscope is a laboratory instrument commonly used to display and analyse the waveform of electronic signals. In effect, the device draws a graph of the instantaneous signal voltage as a function of time.

For this EP, Brain set out to explore the idea of the physicality of sound, and how comparisons can be drawn with the nature of sound and the wider natural world. Just like the frequency vibrations in a piece of music, every person has a different resonance of life - creating the noise of society with everyone fighting for their space in the frequency spectrum of the world.

The thing that glues us together in this timeline, you can see the waveforms in every expression of life and nature. So the oscilloscope represent that introspected way of thinking, remembering that we are energy and movement at the same time, trying to find direction in our lives crafted by the scientists of our "reality"...

BTK's ever-evolving sound and music production have found homes far and wide, with many international releases on a huge range of the industry's leading labels. His back catalogue easily shows the vast range and dynamism of his work, and an innate ability to skilfully appeal to a variety of audiences. Never treading the same ground twice, his prolific production skills have meant that he has been constantly in demand all over the world. 

Celebrating Dutty Audio’s 10th anniversary this year and following up on the last remix competition compilation, BTK presents ‘Cataclysm’, a two-track banging EP bringing some of his latest productions. 

BTK teamed up with a Czech vocalist Tomas Kerekes to bring you the EP title track, ‘Cataclysm’; a powerful and thunderous track that will uplift the listener and pave the way for the next track. ‘Alive’ wraps up this latest release encapsulating percussive and raw elements, taking the audience on a more spiritual journey.

Drum and Bass heavily influenced BTK's sound for his techno alias Vinicius Honorio which has also carried back through to his 174 bpm productions. As always, expect further material in the pipeline from BTK across 2020. Watch this space for more to come…

Since its inception in 2018, Maztek’s 0101 Music has gone from strength to strength, catering for a vast array of styles of drum and bass ranging from neurofunk to halftime. Having already springboarded the careers of emerging talents like nabepro and Bad District, the Dutch label’s Divison imprint now returns with its first compilation album, one of its most ambitious outings to date. Weighing in at a whopping seventeen tracks, Sonic Codes Vol. 1 features a combination of longstanding signees and deserving newcomers, all hand-picked for inclusion by Maztek himself to make for a gargantuan LP.
Close followers of the label’s developments will no doubt be pleased to see residents like Binary and Alerstorm contributing exclusive cuts to the new project; in fact, it even features the pair’s first ever collaboration, a barbed, mechanical number entitled “Siege”. Neurofunk aficionados will recognise a number of familiar faces making their label debuts, too: Germany’s Kaiza, whose recent contributions to Bad Taste, Citrus and Red Light have marked him out as one to watch, appears twice on the compilation, teaming up with Vertex and Fearend on the syncopated heater “Papercut” and banding together with his C4C-approved crew Instinkt for the stuttering stepper “Serpens”. Meanwhile, seasoned Belgian badman Taos showcases his gritty synth work on “Ungreyed Tones”, and the fast-rising Belarusian trio Psynchro – whose recent output includes appearances on RAM, Eatbrain and Cyberfunk – turn in “Composite”, a cinematic number punctuated by garbled basslines and murmuring subs.
True to form, Maztek has also unearthed a whole host of little-known production wizards, sourced from right across the globe. The enigmatic Loded offers up a jittering, jagged belter entitled “Break Out”, while Italy’s Eclict teams up with fellow newcomer FMD&B for the neuro juggernaut “Turbolence” and London tag team Edison & SMP excel with the dark, percussive creeper “Ganglands”. With all this and more on offer over the course of the LP, there’s plenty to get stuck into…

KOMAX makes his IN:DEEP MUSIC debut with his latest EP, “DESTINY”. A rising Russian artist with previous releases on T3K Recordings and Live History, KOMAX now comes to IN:DEEP with five tracks that resonate with both low frequencies and the deep and technical focus of the IN:DEEP label.

Opened by the it’s own title track, the DESTINY EP quickly slides into a groove that flows upon the energy of sharp kickdrums and the undulating bassline frequencies that they emanate. PURE then follows with an opening of a more melodic nature, wherein it’s consonant leads flit with a motion that imbues the track with an atmosphere of levity even amidst the considerable weight of its primary bass sequence. KUTHULU is the next track to rise from the EP’s depths, presenting an eldritch atmosphere punctuated with percussive patterns that cut through its murky milieu. PUSH! comes next in the EP, and follows through on the promise of its title as it pushes its myriad sonic elements within the DESTINY EP’s most frenzied track, which weaves multiple rhythmic & tonal elements together for the creation of a crisscrossing matrix of considerable magnitude.WALL-E closes the EP with pads of a ponderous nature that are set adrift amongst a syncopated set of percussive impacts that find themselves occasionally overcome by synthesized subfrequencies of a distinctly mechanical nature.

With DESTINY, KOMAX displays a diverse array of sonic selections on IN:DEEP MUSIC, delving into depth at the EP’s beginning and floating amongst drifting atmospheres by its end. An exploratory EP born of KOMAX’s many influences, DESTINY comes to IN:DEEP MUSIC drawn by the gravity of artists and label’s fated sonic interactions.

LUMI (Yaroslav) is a versatile electronic music producer with years of experience, starting his journey as a teenager making beats and exploring various genres. Today, he crafts hip-hop beats—ranging from old-school boom bap and lofi to contemporary vibes—and dives into drum and bass, future garage, ambient, and dark ambient styles, occasionally experimenting with four-on-the-floor rhythms.

Dedicated entirely to music, LUMI teaches music production at the Tramplin Pro School of Electronic Music in Moscow, offering ghost production services, custom track creation, mixing, and mastering. As a member of creative collectives RESAMPLE and OCTA MUSIC, he frequently performs live in Moscow bars using the Roland 404 and hosts weekly production streams every Wednesday. In addition, he develops sample and preset packs for Serum and Vital, enriching the creative toolbox for fellow producers.
