Inspired by and a celebration of Nova Scotia, the small coastal province in Eastern Canada that he calls home, '44° North, 63° West' sees Dezza aka Derek Silvester at his musical best. Featuring singles 'Settle', 'Getaway' and 'Carry Me', this sophomore effort is a glorious collection of progressive house productions that puts Dezza at the forefront of the genre, cementing his name as one of its most important creators.

He builds here on the success of his debut artist album 'Cosmos', released in 2019 which featured standout tracks 'Cold Outside', 'Honey' and 'Expanse', and saw him tour the world from Australia to the Netherlands to the U.S. In sharp contrast, 2020, like it was for so many, was spent largely in isolation by Dezza, who turned to the beauty and nature of his surroundings in the Nova Scotia wilderness for inspiration and comfort. The result was nineteen tracks that look outward, with Dezza finding joy in his unique environment; this is reflected in the album's tracks that are tied together by a common theme of optimism and bliss through upbeat chord progressions, driving percussion and airy, floating synths. 

He recruits a host of impressive collaborators to breathe further life into his productions, including vocalists from around the world like Lauren L'aimant, EMME, Dan Soleil, ZOE ASKA, Lewyn, Møøne and Mike Schmid, who bring their own perspectives and stories to '44° North, 63° West' with their first-rate performances.

First up you'll get to indulge your senses on 'City Lights', a smooth, crisp & delightful original that is composed up of big melodies with the epic layereing of the chords; melded in with the warm synth variations. Its upbeat & energetic nature will have you breathing in the freshness of the sound, just as you would walking down a well lit street that is bathed in the chilled autumn air. Such tenderness & with so much allure, the piano breakdown reignites the brilliance of the production, continuing to soothe you into a peaceful but wake lumber before returning you back to the steady, clear blend of all the beautiful textures.

Following this, we have the dynamite original 'Southern Lights'. The start already signifies the intensity with the way the hypnotic kicks chime along with the other subtle range of percussions, waiting for the luscious breakthrough into the bubbly chord work. Another that is exploding with fabulous melodic hooks, this top of line track hits you instantly, allowing you to feel contentment, in the part of your soul that is confined; this immensely emotional yet happy melody bursting through to it.  With a cinematic sounding break down, there is a feeling of floating above in tune with the gorgeous sound structure this segment is built up it. It really touches the deepest horizons when it launches into the warm pad ladened jump, furthering the delightful feeling of pure bliss when exposed to such magnificent music.

To wrap up this trio of tremendously tasteful tunes, we have the aptly titled 'Goodbye', another upbeat & smoothly flowing production that signs off this amazing EP in the most majestic of ways there is. It oozes a very friendly & positive vibe, the sweet melody work once again leaving you speechless with the level of emotion that bursts through from it. With an excellent range of chords working the hook from all angles, this mesmerizing finisher enhances the beauty of a longing goodbye, but not forever as no goodbye is permanent if it isn't meant to be. The chirpy & electrified synth range accommodates the overall atmosphere of it, leading to a dynamic electro feel, citing the positive aura once again. The addition of the nifty & gritty bass line sends jolts of energy through the air, allowing you to let go & enjoy life as carefree as possible, living in the moment & seeing what further endeavors will be thrown your way.

This EP from an incredible producer summarizes without words what melodic progressive house is & the raw range of sounds & feelings it brings along with it. We could not be more thrilled to be able to deliver this prodigious package to you all.
