1. the worship of demons

A practitioner of demonolatry uses ancient sigils and rituals to open portals and summon powerful entities believed by many cultures to be malicious  beings from another dimension.

By offering their loyalty and sacrifices, the practitioner hopes that the demon will use its power to grant them their deepest desires. While this may at times succeed, such wishes are granted at a great cost. Often times, the entity can overpower the practitioner, creating havok and even completely upending their reality. Once the demon has taken control, there may be no way to stop this.

Vol. 1

Paradigm

Embark with me on a journey through dangerous depths and most radiant highs as we explore vast spaces between reality, dreams, and the self within. 
Paradigm tells the story of dancing light permeating through darkness, ancient secrets being rediscovered, and the shift in perspective we must all understand in order to evolve into our next chapter. To save the future, we each must grow to overcome our destructive habits, raise our collective vibration, and in turn reinvent the paradigms of society. When we find the strength to let go and allow change to flow, the truth of our boundless potential behind the illusions of the visible world is revealed. Working together towards this transformation, it quickly becomes clear that we are all in for one wild and magical ride.

Spanning nearly an hour and a half in length, this composition is a true expression of my heart and soul. Encompassing most of the past 3+ years of my original productions, every single track has been re-edited, audio enhanced, broken apart, added to or improved upon in some other way to give the full piece a very coherent and yet complex arrangement - an undertaking that I spent an unbelievable amount of time doing, polishing again and again in pursuit of perfection. On top of this I have featured roughly a full-length album’s worth of unreleased songs, tons of mix-only original content, WIP’s, VIP's, unreleased collaborations, professional voice work and other subtle added layers to truly create a massive storytelling experience that I hope both immerses and exhilarates all who listen. I have never been more proud of any piece of art I've made. 

As this release kicks off my exciting new journey as Luminyst, it is my deepest hope and intention that this art truly works energetically to help illuminate minds, uplift, inspire, and especially help bring growth and healing to all who it reaches. These recent days have been tough, and with this gift I also send out the very real reminder that you are never alone, you are loved, and you are worthy of receiving all the love in the world. Life is intense, and in that intensity there is so much beauty and potential to be found if you believe and remember it. True to the message of this music, let’s unite to help one another heal and evolve together towards a bright future for all people and this planet. 

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being here, listening to my music and supporting these Luminous Dreams.

The easiest way to get into the meditative state is to begin listening. Simply close your eyes and allow yourself to hear all the sounds that are going on around you, listen to the general hum and buzz of the world as you listen to music. Don’t try to identify the sounds you are hearing, don’t put names on them, simply allow them to play with your eardrums. Let them go. In other words, let your ears hear whatever they want to hear. Don’t judge the sounds: there are no proper sounds nor improper sounds, and it doesn’t matter if somebody coughs or sneezes or drops something — it’s all just sound.

As you pursue that experiment you will very naturally find that you can’t help naming sounds, identifying them, and go thinking, talking to yourself inside your head, automatically. But its important that you don’t try to repress those thoughts by forcing them out of your mind because that will have precisely the same effect as if you were trying to smooth rough water with a flatiron — you’re just going to disturb it all the more.

What you do is this: as you hear sounds coming into your head, thoughts, you simply listen to them as part of the general noise going on just as you would be listening to cars going by, or birds chattering outside the window. So look at your own thoughts as just noises. And soon you will find that the outside world and the inside world come together. They are a happening. Your thoughts are a happening just like the sounds going on outside, and everything is simply a happening and all you are doing is watching it.

Inspired by the BLM movement and my protest experiences of this past summer (and of course ongoing efforts to push for police reform and end systemic racism in the USA) this was really a landmark for me both stylistically and in sound design, really pushing the boundaries and seeing how gnarly I could get with the low end and swingy groove of a track. Part of a fundraising release, track sales donated to NAACP. Throw your fist up.

Rise Together

This is a song about how intense emotions from our challenging experiences (such as grief, sadness, loss, stress, fear, etc.) hit us in waves. This is without a doubt one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made. I was in a extremely emotional place while writing it and I think that really shows in the music. I hope it brings healing and a sense of release into this distraught world.

Diamond Hands

A live FLUX set favorite, this long-awaited song began with a massive, multi-day sound design session that emerged from my work in an online class by Ben Cantil over a year ago. Invoking classic sci-fi mad scientist tropes complete with corny voice work by yours truly, the story of the song is inspired by my real-life experience of building the FLUX audio/visual performance system from scratch. The journey involved months of trial and error, a room filled to the brim with computer parts and cables, countless hours of software troubleshooting, network building and even a little bit of code writing. By the end of it, I felt a little mad myself- but alas, my creation... IS COMPLETED!!

The Machine [Headbang Society Premiere]

This is a song about missing someone you love.
A reminder that no matter the circumstances, time passed or distance apart- when you love someone they are never truly gone... just far away.
I wrote this from a very emotional place and thus hope it can bring some form of comfort or healing to anyone who is missing someone important to them. You are never alone.

Special thanks to my good friend Kris Blazer for his excellent work on the mix and master with me for this piece.

This is a piece about unleashing the potential locked away deep within. 
It begins with a short, almost meditative ambience to set the space for the booming and abrasive process of activation that follows. The clanging echos the sounds of metal keys in a symbolic manner, which is further expressed by the runes present on the cover art; Kenaz and Perthro.
