Das Label @rebelliondertraumer geht an den Start. Seit vier Jahren sind die Mitglieder des Imprints in Berlin mit Parties aktiv. Schon zu Beginn war ihnen ein politischer Input wichtig: Ein emanzipatorischer und progressiver Ansatz für positive gesellschaftliche Veränderungen steht bei ihnen im Fokus. Nun soll es musikalisch weitergehen: Die erste EP mit neun Tracks soll am 1. Dezember 2017 erscheinen. Als Acts konnten @jacobgroening, @ninze, @niju-1, @gottlieb-scheppert, @ben-boehmer, Schattenspiel feat. @renevanmunster, @gyrlz, @ziganaldi sowie @bernstein_musik gewonnen werden. Antrea: Could be the name of a planet from a Sci-Fi movie. A world with bazaars and temples that are reminiscent of ancient human cultures, but with holograms and all sorts of wondrous spacecrafts hovering through the air. So Antrea is a great name for an EP that sounds as huge and epic as if it really was the soundtrack for this kind of Sci-Fi movie. Even that seedy bar where adventurous aliens and space travelers from all corners of the galaxy hang out has been transcribed into sound: Four different remixes add a proper dose of transdimensional drive to the dream-like boost of the original tracks.

Un Maître Zen vit un scorpion se noyer et décida de le tirer de l’eau.

Lorsqu’il le fit, le scorpion le piqua.

Par l’effet de la douleur, le maître lâcha l’animal qui de nouveau tomba à l’eau

en train de se noyer. Le maître tenta de le tirer nouvellement et l’animal le piqua encore.

Un jeune disciple qui était en train d’observer se rapprocha du Maître et lui dit :

« Excusez-moi Maître, mais vous êtes têtu! Ne comprenez vous pas qu’à chaque fois

que vous tenterez de le tirer de l’eau il va vous piquer ? »

Le maître répondit: « La nature du scorpion est de piquer et cela ne va pas

changer la mienne qui est d’aider. »

Alors, à l’aide d’une feuille, le maître tira le scorpion de l’eau et sauva sa vie,

puis s’adressant à son jeune disciple, il continua:

« Ne change pas ta nature si quelqu’un te fait mal, prends juste des précautions.

Les uns poursuivent le bonheur, les autres le créent ».

Quand la vie te présente mille raisons de pleurer, montre-lui que tu as mille raisons

pour sourire. Préoccupe-toi plus de ta conscience que de ta réputation.

Parce que ta conscience est ce que tu es, et ta réputation c’est ce que les autres

pensent de toi… Et ce que les autres pensent de toi… c’est leur problème ! »

Deadlines get missed, artists get inspired to make a new version long after the original package has been issued, and talented fans take it upon themselves to sample and re-imagine tracks without our involvement. When the resulting music is great, it always presents a label manager with a problem: what shall we do with it?

Sol Selectas is proud to present the 2nd album from DJ, producer, and label founder Sabo. The “Buddy System” is a collaborative effort spanning over 3 years of work. 

Sabo recalls taking field trips in elementary school as a child, and how all students were asked to find a buddy. Students held hands in pairs, while traveling from destination to destination, looking out for one another. The album mirrors this concept, with Sabo teaming up with various musician and producer buddies, while touring around the Globe. 

The history of each song is a travel diary of Sabo’s stamp filled passport, with musical ideas traveling back and forth across oceans and equators, in order to finalize the projects. One can hear the musical roots of Persia, India, Ancient Greece, Spain, and Jordan, with influence from time spent at his buddy’s studios in Mexico, Switzerland, Argentina, and Berlin. The different backgrounds, cultures, and styles combine to create something unique, and emphasizes the importance of working and creating together - as Buddies.

The artwork by Helia Jamali displays a dreamscape of a wolf pack circumnavigating the galactic Universe. Wolves survive best in packs, each buddy helping out the other. Sabo’s spirit animal is the wolf.

Swept away by Zigan Aldi. The ‘Odin’ EP brews with Souq Record’s traditional smoky desert flavours, evoked by Eastern instruments meeting electronica. Yet The EP is quick to cut through expectations and take a resolutely urban, robust direction: moody takeoffs, low rumbling vocals, a guitar’s singing electricity, heady bass-lines, and enveloping darkness. Odin flirts with melodic techno but never fully gives in to its calls, riding the tension between organic and electric.

Zigan Aldi debuts on Souq with this statement EP, infused with his two homes of Eastern Turkey and Berlin. His atmospheric narrative is three part: Odin rises, Heppnar strikes, Desert Hills simmers down. Three smouldering remixes by Iorie, Zuma Dionys and Namito land the story on softer tracks, completing the picture with elegance.
