"Antagonist" is a track that attempts to blend sounds of edgy video game soundtracks with an atmospheric cinematic undertone. It was a song that I created as I began to dive deep into music production and explored a more experimental sound. The name antagonist actually came from the dark tones and electronic gaming sounds which led to the explosive chaotic finale. 

Fun fact: Some of the weirder darker parts of the production didn't form until I took a break to watch Black Mirror!

This track was created for the channel Let's Procrasti-Nate! on Youtube and was also positively academically reviewed by Seattle Pacific University's music production professor Micah Hayes. 

This song carries a dark tone that combines slight elements of jazz, pop, hip hop, and rock, creating a track that might be described as "Avant-Garde".  It features a gritty bass line, an ominous choir, and a piano solo to top off the chaos, all while being academically evaluated. Enjoy!

EVALUATION

This song was created through the combination of a college dorm clown doll and an old demo on my laptop. 

Initially, I worked on the chorus of this song but had no clue what to do with it, so it sat on my laptop for nearly a year. Throughout this time, I was back at college and would keep seeing this Gymbo clown doll popping up in random places while it spooked everyone in the building. After meeting one of my now college friends Jaeden who also lived in this building, we came together to finish up the track in honor of this clown. It started off as a joke but eventually turned into a fully-fledged track complete with string sections, trap hi-hats, and every horror sound cliche in the book. 

Fun fact: I also based some of the sounds around the unpredictable and explosive nature of Jinx, a character primarily focused on in Netflix's show "Arcane" which I decided to check out around this time.

GYMBO

"Heya!" was one of the first songs I ever created, made completely on most people's first DAW: Garageband. As simple as it is, I absolutely adored the chords and laid-back feeling of the track. This is now one of my main go-to's for videos when I need to edit in chill background music, and it's the official outro theme for the drum cover channel HeyImNate on Youtube!

Back in one of my college music production classes, we were tasked with the challenge of creating a cover or remix of a song of our choosing that relied completely on audio and no digital instruments. Using speakers, a glass tea bottle, and various samples, I produced Heathens, the cinematic alternative mix...

...Because cinematic soundtracks are epic and quite frankly, in academic terms: "Super sick and really cool"

As a challenge over the weekend, I tried to recreate the instrumental (with VOX)for Lauv's song "I'm So Tired". It was stuck in my brain for days and I wanted to know what was in the rhythm that made it so addictive. It was a fun breakdown and a nice ear-training test on my end!

Dr. Peg Achterman of Seattle Pacific University requested that I create a track for her for a tour company video she was working on. I was more than happy to help make a custom track and dived right into her request for a Middle-Eastern-inspired track. 

I learned about the constantly changing melodies and scales that are typically used in this genre, as well as all the fascinating bits of percussion that I got to play around with. I believe she enjoyed this track and I enjoyed the process!

Dune Markets

Think, "Untitled Goose Game," but the goose has gone full villain arc and is also an 8-bit 2D platformer. I created this track back in 2020 out of pure boredom and a newfound discovery of the Clavichord instrument on my DAW. Swing, geese, and funk, what more could you ask for?

2022, college spring semester, stuck in a broken-down house on the corner of a road during quarantine, I created a demo for the chorus of this song (the rest of the production was inspired by my love for Portal 2). The title of it was named "Stockholm" due to the "hostage" vibe I felt when I was in that house.
