‘Glutes’ is peak-time material without being overly fast or chaotic, the energy instead coming from the transportive arrangement and emotive melodic content. The same can be said for Bäumel’s ‘Surge’ on Kompakt, an anthem in the sets of Tale Of Us last year which led to this release.

The title track rises and falls, surging with wide-sweeping synth notes and a steady rhythm to anchor the waves. An infectious refrain pulls you further in and, right on cue, the kick drum continues to beat the sweet spot. ‘Engage’ is filled with similarly subtle details, uplifting arpeggios and atmospheric reverb. Half-way through the melody bursts into life, shining brightly through the haze and creating one of those moments of release that make the Afterlife sound work so well on a dancefloor.

Munich Based Julian Wassermann glides in between his usual areas of musical dexterity, blending Deep Techno and Electronica into a souring four-tracker.

First of the lot, Sol, offers up a fluid melody dotted with acidic synths. Evident from the get go, the track bears a clear cinematic underpinning, a common mark throughout the entire release. All elements are geared towards elevating the overall experience, resulting in a highly emotive and captivating piece.

Hazy atmosphere is the main theme in Lyra, a towering tech house exploration featuring misty vocals and zippy synths. It’s a construction that sustains a light headed tension, equally immersive and spellbinding thanks to the airy vocal chops.

Lofty moods meet fiendish ambiance in Sirius, a whirlwinding cut fit for late night antics. Evoking a surreal, dungeon-like setting seems to come easy to the artist, who balances out light and obscure on the entirety of the EP.

Argon is not just a noble gas, but in this case a high strung slice of techno, powering through with arrays of metallic synths and an upbeat melody. Edgy elements combine with arching synths and snappy bites, building up a perfect dancefloor weapon to round the release off in style.

I’ve always really admired the guys and what they’ve accomplished with Anjuna and Group Therapy, so it was a great honor and pleasure to remix their iconic ‘Thing Called Love’ anthem, featuring Richard Bedford’s beautiful vocals, for the song’s tenth anniversary.
It might sound a bit different than what people would expect from me, but I wanted to keep the trancey vibe of the original alive in this epic new remix. I can’t wait to play this out at festivals when they can happen again! Hope you like it too :) ✌️
