St. Petersburg based musicians Andrey Kinly, Anton Berezin and Grigory Babak have managed an independent electronic music VA named Hand to Hand to support the human rights organizations: Mediazona (an independent media platform focused on the judiciary, law enforcement and penal system in Russia founded by Pussy Riot members Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova) and OVD-Info (an independent human rights media project aimed at combating political persecution.

A visceral affair, the A2 invokes the fleshy body horror Cronenberg without breaking stride. Young’uns take note: this is a masterclass of retrograde futurism. A high NRG macro trip ‘Sweet Chainsaw’ is the coronary artery of the bustling cityscape capturing the pulsating romance of the underground: a frenzied maze of industrial estates, a reclamation of the forgotten spaces, and above a call to arms - let’s be having ye.

This is a feeling which DJ Frankie continues to thread on the flipside, in equal measure sexy and sentimental, balancing the serious futurism of US electro with the nostalgic optimism of UK hardcore. Re-historicising seemingly disparate strands of electronic music into something of ‘Ravers Guide’ - The Future Sound of the Past.

For the second output of e s p e r p e n t o, Francesco Baudazzi evokes his enigmatic and esoteric side project Violet Poison after being part of the first Various Artists release as Red Lodge.

ESPER002. includes 5 original tracks plus a stomper Remix by the Liber Null founder Unhuman.
Each track recalls the pleasure and disorientation resulted in perceiving the ruthlessness of the sea and its stillness right after. Retro-futuristic and cinematic elements, wistful melodies and mutant beats emerge from the marine environment tied to Violet Poison homeland .
It is not without reason that the Ep title is inspired by ""The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1798), a tale about a sea voyage with no return because of the uncontrollable power of nature and the misfortunes caused by the killing of an Albatros.
The poem’s atmosphere too is connected with the eerie depictions and the deforming imagery of e s p e r p e n t o.

EP from Detroit electronic music veteran, Thomas Barnett, this new technology hasn't been lost, but instead of "intelligence" Barnett flipped it to "ignorance" to try to inject a little light-hearted humor into this hotly debated topic. With 4 new tracks on this EP no actual A.I. was used, but with titles like "Artificial Ignorance", "Data Mining", "Firewall", & "Cloud Based Funk" it doesn't take long to realize there is a theme going on here, that theme is pumpin’ bass, rapid hi-hats, quick drops, & frenetic energy.

This digital release will be available everywhere for downloads & streaming on May 10th, 2024, just in time for the upcoming, busy Summer. Coming up also this Summer season will be Barnett's follow up to the A.I. EP with his “Dragons” release with floor-filling remixes from Ecilo, Gunjack, & Barnett. As the situation in Gaza gets worse daily, we are committed to doing what we can to end this conflict, and provide aid to the residents of Gaza, as well as all Palestinians in the west bank.  All proceeds from @confused-machines digital sales will go directly to Physicians For Human Rights – Israel (PHRI) www.phr.org.il, which continues its medical work and humanitarian aid in the West Bank despite the difficult circumstances.  Since October 2023, PHRI has doubled its activity in the West Bank and is sending two weekly mobile clinic visits to help communities that are cut off from medical treatment due to the severe wave of settler and military violence, movement restrictions, and the financial crisis in the West Bank.  PHRI is currently unable to operate in Gaza due to restrictions by the Israeli authorities, and have been barred from delivering aid to the strip. PHRI is constantly working to resume these activities and will do so as soon as the circumstances allow.  We urge for an immediate ceasefire, the return of all hostages, and a peaceful future for all inhabitants of this troubled land.

Having spent plenty of time in the global Top 100 for Techno artists and tracks, Ribalta channels his industry experience into an eight-track opus available in digital and premium vinyl formats. Bring In Back ventures into unrelenting rhythmic territories and immersive soundscapes, reminiscent of the energetic minimalism and hypnotic force championed by Techno luminaries over the years. @avoidantrecords is a brand new label from Glasgow that debuts with a statement electro release from Berlin innovators CYRK called ‘Doppler Spectroscopy’.

Comprised of Sammy Goossens and Pascal Hetzel, this hardware loving pair are masters of live jam sessions and cross all genre lines with a real and raw sense of energy. Drawing on Detroit’s rich history, the best of electro and playing everywhere from Tokyo’s Womb to Panorama Bar and Epizode festival in Vietnam, they’ve also established their own self-titled label while getting plays from contemporary stars like DJ Stingray, Steffi and Helena Hauff. They now kick-start Avoidant, a Glaswegian imprint rooted in leftfield electro and diverse sonics.

Fantastic and futuristic first track ‘Doppler Spectroscopy’ is a searing electro cut with corrugated bass funk to spare. Molten acid, crisp hits and sustained chords flesh out the groove and make for effective, unforgettable listening. ‘Convolution’ is a busy jam with more electro stylings and freeform synth lines. It’s cinematic and sci-fi, with punchy kicks offset by gorgeous twinkling keys and really tugs at the heart despite the physicality of it all. Closing out a top trio is ‘Inverted Gravity’, a darker electro trip but still with pensive chords and an unpredictable groove.

This bold first release is a fantastic way to kick off what promises to be an interesting new label.

The dark & brooding sound of Namesis debuts on Soma with the Rave Is Dead EP. Taking inspiration from various electronic disciplines such a new beat, EBM and even industrial, Namesis have collected a solid release consisting of superbly crafted dark, synth driven music. 

The EP’s opening track Blade Runner, a collaboration with Corvad, has dark and futuristic overtones as jarring synths rip at the heart of the track with serious intensity. Lies Around leans on more industrial vibes with ominous sweeping pads screeching across a base of distorted synths and crashing percussion. Title Track Rave Is Dead is a sinister and dread inducing trip as a direct beat drives a hard message. Call Me Out feat the vocal stylings of Sunko is a more paced affair that still caries the twisted sounds of Namesis, with a broken beat and apocalyptic feel present from the opening. Whispers in the Dark closes out this unique release for Soma as polyrhythmic synths and epic vocals create a higher atmosphere whilst still retaining the foreboding sound of Namesis.
