Lunar - Destiny Knows Its Shit

Born in debt and not one thing was ever meant to be
taken for granted
A single crumble hasn’t gone to waste,
If nothing has been handed as a gift on a silver plate
then why does every second feel like throwing bread away
right before a hungry man’s eyes?

This is the time when we grow out of the shells we’ve been living in
but I don’t know if I can find safety in where I’ve been
'Cause this was the day I found myself
or I’m still finding pieces missing from the puzzle I’ve been putting together for years

But I know they’re not far away
and they won’t make any attempts to find me

Is this what we all dream of?
To live for just a second knowing that you’d never want to be in anyone else’s skin?
Because lately I have been relearning how to swim,
to see the Sun within the rain, both the horizon and the sea
This is the second hatching, the time to see how far we’ve come
Slowly back onto solid ground, still not seeing the right from wrong
but at least knowing that you’re looking in the right direction

Destroy, rebuild something that’s whole or at least seems that way
How can you hold anything dear till you feel you’re worth your weight in gold?
The stories told have lost their meaning but we’ll play the game
with open eyes, the mirror breaks, today nothing stays the same

The temple I’ve been raised in may not be so sacred after all
and heroes might have let me down but they never let me fall
The only home I really have in this motion through space and time
is where the doubt is laid to rest and where the quiet voice is loud

Moments like this are the ones you always knew were going to come, but you were never exactly sure when. Nonetheless, I decided to welcome them with open arms whatever that may lead to, but I guess we were always told that fortune favours the brave. These are the moments in which you appreciate where you come from, but don’t know where you will end up, torn between expectations to meet and becoming who you really are; realizing what you want from life while still not letting anyone down. The ones in which you don’t know anymore how right your ideals are or whether you’re going to be able to pass them on. I’m afraid of not being the best person I can be but I choose not to live guided purely by negative reinforcement, however productive that fear might be. This town forever stole my heart, and it was the first time I was happy to lose something dear…but there is a first and a last time for everything.  

So I took my dreams by the hand and I’m still holding on
I stared the silence in the face and grabbed it by the throat

Some battles you have to win alone otherwise you’re not fighting them at all
and some edges were simply meant to stay forever rough
These truths around you are a lifelong story full of pages but 
If you don’t get it in a word, a thousand won’t be enough

Is this what we all dream of?

To come to terms with the fact that I might not be able
to love all that I have the right way just yet
But it’s one lesson I’ve never been more willing to learn
and never forget.
