Sometimes they remain beyond the biological vessel longer than expected.

I have also noticed their strange activity...

as if they are still aware.

If a soul can retain identity and structure on its own, does it even need the original body? Or more importantly...

...could it adapt to a new one?

This all leads to a larger question: What defines a suitable vessel?

Nerves? Organs? Cells? Or perhaps something else entirely? 
Something that only needs to contain memory, emotion, intent... Would that be enough?

I haven't tested any of this yet. But the thoughts keep me awake more than I'd like to admit.
