A note from The Brain Garden:

Grounding is one of the most important tools I have learnt in my journey so far. Sometimes when really intense emotions come up it’s easy to drift away in a sea of hurt and pain, often the head takes over and starts a pattern of negative thinking that can spiral into frightening and isolating places.

Grounding can help to bring you back to yourself. It can work to just give you some space to feel yourself held on earth and is a really beautiful practice when things feel like they are spinning out of control.

Sometimes meditation can feel a scary concept to start with but we wanted to offer this short practice as a starting point. Learning to sit with ourselves in meditation is a constant learning that will ebb and flow and it’s ok to start small- for me meditation is not about getting somewhere specific and trying to magically stop thinking, it’s a journey back to connection to myself and the universal energy around us. Starting small is better than not starting at all so give it a try.

We hope this practice gives you some rooted support when you need it most :)
