Demo of a new folk song recorded at ArtsEdEx, Margate with Ollie Briggs, based on traditional songs The Unquiet Grave and The Blantyre Explosion. 

The song tells of the death of Elaine Christian, who took her own life in 2011 under pressure from the DWP 'fit to work' assessments. Over 130,000 such deaths have been linked directly to Tory Austerity policy.

I was interviewed last year by Steve Randall from Communication Generation about 'my story' for a business podcast. The podcast is not being made now but here's what would have been my episode. In telling my story I can see how everything I have done in my circuitous journey of life has come full circle and is completely relevant to what I do now. 

My story includes training as an interpreter, working in publishing, management consultancy and design, traveling the world for two years, losing my best friend and my Father within a few weeks and how that inspired with my passion for positive touch and retraining as a massage therapist, creating and running a pioneering training for massage in pregnancy and setting up the aromatherapy company Vital Touch, discovering songwriting, writing songs and getting into running songwriting events and workshops (formerly LondonSongCo and now Company Of Song)and eight years ago founding fromthewhitehouse which is what I do now, representing amazing musicians who I believe make a difference in this strange and wonderful world we live in. 

I forgot to mention I used to be a gymnast, so that's in the photo :)
