The Nu:Logic duo return with their combined genius to present a second full-length collaborative effort ‘Somewhere Between The Light’. As two pioneers of the signature Hospital sound, brothers Nu:Tone and Logistics have become influencers and tastemakers in the genre with a deep back-catalogue of smooth, soulful, liquid drum & bass. This 13-track long player soars through the same ethereal movements with a welcomed dip into new territory.
 
Tracks ‘Somewhere Between The Light’, ‘Side By Side’, ‘Driftwood’ and ‘Red Velvet’ are sure to satisfy the needs of those after classic Hospital rhythms. Heart-wrenching vocals delivered by the likes of Child of Chief, Thomas Oliver and Ed Thomas balance blissful highs with lower register tones. Fitting into their love of feel-good funk and bluesy grooves is ‘Nova’ with subtle horns and bouncing basslines in the mix.  
 
Nu:Logic have one foot firmly in the future with ‘Strut’, featuring fellow Gresham brother Other Echoes and an anti-drop switch up ready to dominate dancefloors world over. ‘Our Nights’, created with prolific multi-genre producers The Nextmen, shakes a half-time stick with a glistening roller feel. Other highbrow match-ups come from LSB in ‘Sepia’ and ‘Pathways’ with singer/songwriter Blake.
 
Separately and together these two continue on paths to success, with younger brother Logistics reaching BBC Radio 1’s playlist last year following his sixth studio album ‘Electric Sun’. For the last three years Dan Nu:Tone has become a crucial member of the Hospital A+R team, having an influential role in the progression of both up and coming artists and longstanding members of the family. Their DJ dates continue to take them across the globe with sets promised at the 2017 editions of Standon Calling, Mysteryland, Made Festival and the drum & bass baller Hospitality In The Park.

Sometimes the best part of running a label, is the demos you receive. Ranging from all corners of the globe, tastes & sub-genres alike, at Soulvent we operate with a huge dependency on the on-a-whim punts that we receive from producers monthly.

Monika is truly such a story. After receiving 3 demos somewhat randomly from Maxwell ‘Monika’ Sweeney himself a few months back, we were baffled at how we had ended up with the tracks. Did he send them to us? Who is he? However, now all finalised, we’re pleased to bring you these two tracks in the form of his debut single Vector on Soulvent.

Title track Vector opens with a classic breakbeat, engulfed in swirling atmosphere pads, pulsing synth swells and yearning vocals – all the while bubbling with a menacing arpeggio underfoot. Halfway through the build the synth’s intensity grows, and the slightly more sinister nature of the track takes hold. Post drop we’re introduced to meaty low-end, complete slick sub drops, more other-worldly vocal phrasing and innovative drum fills.

Meanwhile Bahn starts with a huge, warm synth swell, leading to a sub driven drum pattern. Modulating synths lurk in the intro, while the uncertainty of key keeps you hooked, caught between spaced resonance and droning tones. The drop culminates in a fully unexpected gully drop, complete with driving percussion and stepping tones of rumbling bass supported by pads.

Set for release this June, Monika kicks off our run off Summer releases, with enthusiasm and panache for the genre, the likes of which always excite us!

Kid Drama’s debut Metalheadz release is one that is set to shake up this 4-year-old alias as he heads in a direction that’s slightly more focused on the dancefloor, whilst managing to subtly retain some of the elements that have seen him become so loved in the deeper and more experimental side of drum and bass.

The ‘Trife EP’ proves how much of a talent Kid Drama is, from the savage bassline in ‘Brutal D’ to the late 90s techstep vibes of ‘Articulation’ all the way to ‘Payback’, which is a track that could have easily come out under his and Boddika’s Instra:mental moniker.

This is an extremely well-rounded project and one we’re delighted to be releasing on Metalheadz.

Ramping the sub-bass up and easing the tempo down, "Sub 150" is the brand new download compilation from Hospital Records. Expect dubstep, drumstep and everything in between in this immense 20-track offering as "Sub 150" delves into the medical records of releases past and recruits fresh blood for releases future. Known primarily as a drum+bass label, there have always been a plethora of other genres and styles on offer on the Hospital, with releases extending deep and wide into what has become known more recently as "bass music", from some of the pioneers of what has become known as "dubstep" (the likes of Phuturistix and Darqwan), to the more recent alternative offerings from big guns Netsky, Logistics and Camo & Krooked. 

Featuring signed Hospital artists, our extended Med School family, along with other likeminded names -- Blokhe4d, N3gus, Randomer, Martsman and CLS and newcomers such as Other Echoes (Nu:Tone and Logistics's youngest brother no less!) - flavours are varied, exciting and always unique. 

"Sub 150" starts with Blokhe4d's refined, and yet punishing monster "Zelda" and takes us on a journey under the 150bpm radar where we encounter such gems as Darqwan's "Three Note Blue" which oozes class, the infamous Barbarix remix of Mistabishi's - "Printer Jam" and another Mistabishi classic -- "White Collar Grime" -- is brought out from the vaults. Bristol based N3gus steps up with Carasel for the MC's first ever recording on the rambunctious, in your face "Snakes". The Guardian's "Band of the week" Submerse brings the classic garage flavours with his superb "This Time You're Wrong", while Other Echoes, the youngest of the Gresham brothers, makes his debut on Hospital with spaced out dubstep riddim "Quantum Spectrum (feat. Tim Parker)". 

Proving there's always been more to Hospital than meets the eye, this collection of past and present hits plunges below the 150bpm mark. Prepare to be immersed.

I knew I had to make a track based on where half [of] all evil things spawn up from, so up from the dirt comes “The Grave Yard”, an anthem for all things dead and rising. The synths during the builds are semi-reminiscent of classic zombie analog soundtrack riffs while the bass is screaming at the top of its lungs.”

The full-length LP mixes up a sub-slaughter potion of gruesome proportions as the essential soundtrack for the Halloween season. Monsters Volume 3 is a 15-track collection of originals including collabs with Tommy Lee and BAREs well as remixes from the likes of J. Rabbit, Oscillator Z, Alex Sin, Phrenik, and Dr. Ozi.
