I Knead You

This is my tentative interpretation of the piano solo "Indigio", composed by the Korean pianist Yiruma (Lee Ru-ma). Performed by Yiruma on the studio album "From the Yellow Room" (2003).

Indigo by Yiruma: From the Yellow Room (2003)

This is my interpretation of a ballade by the Norwegian rock musician Åge Aleksandersen (b. 1949). The lyrics, in Norwegian language, was inspired by the birth of Aleksandersen's daughter.  It describes a parent looking at a sleeping child in the evening, wondering what the future might bring. "Lys og varme" means "light and warmth". 

This is a beloved song in Norway and is often used in weddings and on other important occasion.

As a young teenager, I discovered a wonderful vinyl record with a cute cover - "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano" (1975), featuring Claude Bolling (composer/pianist)and the famous flautist Jean-Pierre Rampal. At that time I played the accordion only, but decided to teach myself piano and flute, partly inspired by the track "Irlandaise".  This is a my recent piano interpretation of that jolly jazz waltz. Moment Of Truth (Violin version)

This romantic piece was written by Edvard Fliflet Bræin (1924-1976), a  
Norwegian composer and conductor, when he was only 22 years old. In Norwegian language the title is "Ut mot havet", which translates roughly as "Towards the ocean". 

The piece was written in Kristiansund, a small town at the west coast of Norway with a spectacular view of the ocean. The Norwegian lyrics describes a sentimental scene in which a sailor is leaving on a ship, while his sweetheart is waving goodbye on the shore. 

Performed on my Yamaha grand at home in Oslo, September 2019.

Towards the Ocean - Version 2

This is a slow, dreaming piano piece I composed and performed at home in 2020. It is called "Dorian Meditation", because it starts out in G dorian mode, and modulates to E flat major in the second part.

In my opinion, URU is one of contemporary Japan's greatest singer-songwriter talents and this is my favorite among URUs songs. "Anata Iru Koto de" means "because you exist" in Japanese. It is a truly beautiful love song. 

Recorded in Oslo, Norway, October 2020, in my living room. I'm neither a guitar player or a singer, but I did my best. Enjoy  - and please listen to the original and other cover versions on YouTube.

This is my interpretation of the Japanese version of HedyWest's classic song "500 miles". I think the Japanese lyrics is better than the English one, but I have included a little bit of English at the end. Sorry for the clumsy singing (I'm not a singer), but I hope the guitar and accordion playing turned out ok. Recorded at my apartment in Oslo, Norway, February 2021.
