To celebrate our reaching 1000 followers on Instagram, here's an un-released track from the Luo vault.

I started making this in 2021 to get a feel for a possible direction to take a 3rd Luo album in.

I was toying with the idea of making a concept album about a mad scientist-type character who locks himself away in his laboratory and experiments on his own brain. I had also just watched a pretty under-the-radar 80s sci-fi horror movie called Altered States, which is also basically that storyline.

We never got around to finishing this, but it's one of a handful of tracks we got far enough to record most of Barney's acoustic drum parts on before his hiatus from Luo.

Currently I'm still focused on and having an absolute blast with my Final Fantasy covers project (which you should check out here if you're a fan of my // Luo's vibes: joshtrinnaman.bandcamp.com/album/cactuar-collections-disc-one-ffvii)

Once I eventually complete that album project, I'll be refocusing my attention back on a 3rd Luo album.

Introducing the first release from Luo since 2017, now reformed as a 2-piece consisting of multi-instrumentalists and producers Josh Trinnaman & Barney Sage. 

Originally written by Barney for his Madilan project, this was developed off of the back end of Sleep Spindles in 2016 and recording was completed in late 2017, initially for what at the time was intended to be a side project/split EP between Madilan & Luo. 

Special thanks to all our family & friends for their input and patience, as well as our pals, visual artists and silent members Josh Harrison (AKA Jsnazz) & Callum Round for their vast amounts of assistance and collaboration with us on the visual direction of this project.

This track was written after our Sleep Spindles LP with the old Luo line-up 2015 and is named after the Critter & Guitari Septavox synth that was used to create the main bass loop. 

Along with the recently released single and live video for 'Testament' this single showcases the new direction the project has taken, maintaining a blend of experimental electronic music production and live instrumentation but in a heavier and more visceral way than previously explored in Luo. 

Inspired by a desire to explore a combination of electronic music such as Jungle/DnB/Breakcore/IDM, Aphex/Squarepusher/Amon Tobin etc and more instrumentally-lead contemporary off-kilter artists like Tigran Hamasyan, The Mars Volta, Mouse On The Keys and many more, this single was the first to be written after Sleep Spindles and formed the basis for our current and yet-to-be-released material.
