The "rapture" has often been hijacked by evangelicals to mean the end of time, but I prefer to believe in its initial definition of "a feeling of intense pleasure of joy." As we reach sixth week of quarantine, we are confronted with our sense of isolation, and it is getting harder each day.  We can't forget that this is all temporary, and that somewhere at the end of this road lies some sort of rapture.  This set was recorded in my bedroom to celebrate the birthdays of Nikki and Piper.

This set was livestreamed on June 21, 2020 on the slopes of Mt Tamalpais in Mill Valley, CA with DJ Dane and Bisi.

Dawn Diaries is inspired by the belief that the best way to start every day is with a celebration of the sun that shines through the darkness, our bodies that feel the warmth and the music that moves us. How we wake sets the tone for our day and how we live each day sets the tone for our lives.

To start our days in celebration with music and dancing has the power to transform us, unlocking the ever-present freedom, love and happiness that can easily be muted by our daily routine. My hope is that Dawn Diaries can be a part of this transformation.

Dawn Diaries are mini-mixes that go great with coffee, morning showers and getting ready for work. Solo or group dancing, bouncing, singing and smiling are all highly encouraged.

Six months into the pandemic, and we are still just staring at the void, while the void is laughing back at us.  Lushpod #55 was recorded in Uplifter's Ranch, in the same neighborhood that Frank Baum wrote the Wizard of Oz.  From the frenetic spoken words of Kate Tempest to tracks from Husky, Joe Vannelli, Citizenn, Animal Trainer, Guy Gerber, and Idris Elba, this mix vibrates in ebbs and flows.

The Goat Place

Here’s a gift for old school music friends on my birthday, 25 years later. Possibly the only deliberate DJ Markem mix during his musical tenure in Vancouver. 

Sunday Morning Drive With My Friend Henry started out as a token of friendship and birthday present. In March of 1996, Markem locked himself in the dj booth of Graceland’s for hours with a bottle of rum and three turntables to create a beautiful blissful story of pure and sweet ambient music. The original was a double sided 100 minute cassette. During the heyday of ambient rooms at raves, it became the go to music of Sunday morning drives around Stanley Park after leaving a party the night before, watching the sun come up, looking for that warm place of audio retreat. It grew to become the soundtrack of our lives. So clean, so timeless, so flawless. The recording was edited later to fit on a CD format as the original tape had worn itself thin. It’s an honour after all these years to share this with you. Thank you Markem, you made so many people so happy with the music you played so many years ago.
